Interested in finding out if anybody has successfully applied for the METV on the office eVisa website. Curious to find out about the financial requirements and/or other documents. Also, on the first page there is a note saying that even if they grant the METV, it's up the the IM officer to accept it or not, meaning if you can't provide a good enough reason to visit Thailand multiple times, they can stamp it as a regular single entry TR. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry seeks insights on successfully applying for the METV via the eVisa website, specifically regarding financial requirements and necessary documentation. Responses highlight that financial guidelines vary by embassy and should be verified on their respective websites. It's clarified that the METV grants a single tourist entry stamp for 60 days upon each entry, regardless of its multiple entry designation, and the actual admission into Thailand is subject to the immigration officer's discretion.

The evisa application will route to the specific embassy or consulate you’re physically located in to process. Their requirements will differ from others. Their website should tell you exactly what is required.

A visa (whether single or multiple) is no guarantee of entry in to Thailand as that’s up to the individual immigration officer to decide. Almost always if you have an actual visa they will allow you entry and have to stamp you in for the days your visa allows. There is no leeway on the number of days. They either let you in and stamp you for those days or they deny you entry for whatever reason.

A multiple entry tourist visa allows you 60 days in country. On each entry you can either opt to get a 30 day extension at a local immigration office or border bounce for a new 60 day stamp. If you bounce just prior to the visa expiring you’ll get a new 60 day stamp and could extend that for 30 days also.

Depending on when you applied for the METV you can get almost 9 months of stay off that visa.

Thanks, really good advice. And what about the 2nd and 3rd entry in the country? Do you have to have an outbound ticket with you each time?

That would be specific to the airline you use. Immigration would rarely ask you but in theory they could.

But if I do a land entry by myself, or do a border bounce with an organized group it shouldn't be necessary, correct?

almost certainly would never be asked. As I said in theory they could but in practice they only ever ask if they are looking for a reason to deny you entry. With a METV there just isn’t a reason unless you had a really extensive history of previous entries and the officer thinks “enough is enough”.

If they don’t like your METV application they will give you a single entry visa a at the Embassy …. no refunds

You cannot just ask what the financial requirements are because each embassy or consulate sets their own guidelines. You need to check with the website of embassy you will be applying through and see what their guidelines are for financial requirements and other requirements. Many people have gotten the METV through e-visa already.

As far as your last statement, you do not understand how METV works. You will ALWAYS be stamped in with a single tourist stamp, that's what multiple entry means. Each time you enter you receive a tourist entry stamp for 60 days. The embassy statement means that your ability to enter Thailand is always at the discretion of the immigration officer and they can deny you entry to Thailand even if you have a visa. It has nothing to do with how you will be stamped in, it has to do with if you will be stamped into Thailand at all.
