Anyone travel from Canada on an METV with a one way ticket? We did pre Covid, just wondering if that changed?

The Cdn Thai website says they want a round-trip ticket. Can we just show onward travel?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Traveling from Canada to Thailand on a multiple-entry tourist visa (METV) with a one-way ticket is possible, but it comes with certain considerations. The official Thai website mentions a preference for round-trip tickets, while individual airline policies and immigration officials may ask for proof of onward travel instead. Several users shared experiences indicating that they managed to enter Thailand without a return ticket. However, it ultimately depends on the customs agent's discretion at entry and the policies of the airline you fly with. Those applying for an METV via the E-Visa system may face stricter requirements, as it specifically states the need for round-trip flight information.

may I ask if you used the Evisa site to obtain the METV or did you go in person?

I didn't get visa they stamp me on 60 visa exempt. Canadian airlines ask if I had one I said no I will over se Asia for 6 months she called supervisor she said I didn't need return ticket

As a Canadian, I’ve had some luck and other times I had to show onward travel.

With a METV you SHOULD be ok with a one way ticket. It’s actually up to the airlines if they want to chance letting you on the plane.

You can try it with a one way ticket and if they give you grief just purchase a cheap ticket out of Thailand there on the spot.

i should have clarified. I am applying on the E Visa site FOR an METV. One of the requirements says round trip flight info. I have purchased a 1 way ticket with the intention of traveling around SE Asia. No set date to return. Wondering if they will reject it based on that fact?

oh, ok. I’m not familiar with the whole eVisa system, as I haven’t had to use it yet.

Hi
@Michelle ********
we left Canada end November, Air Canada from Vancouver with a one way ticket to Vietnam, then to Chiang Mai early December. We were asked about outgoing flights and just said we had no set plans.

It really just depends on the customs agent you see.

Not sure what is a METV …

Just got a 5 years DTV visa and I’ll just have a one way ticket to get there. They won’t ask for a forward ticket or anything like that with such type of visa

Depends on who you are asking about.

The embassy can request anything they want for a visa application. They get to set requirements.

Your airline and immigration will only require proof of onward travel.
