Can you only apply for a 6 Month METV from the Los Angeles consulate in the USA? It seems a METV isn't available online for USA residents :(

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Multi-Entry Tourist Visa (METV) can be applied for online via the eVisa service and is available from multiple U.S. consulates, including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington D.C. Applicants must demonstrate their intent to leave Thailand within 60 days and return to qualify for the METV. It's unnecessary to physically visit the Los Angeles office if you are currently outside the U.S.

This may seem like a silly question, but a search turned up no results. I'm from the US (and a US resident), but currently in Dubai. I want to go from Dubai to Thailand. Can I get a METV from Los Angeles without ever going to LA office? Can the entire evisa process be done online and have them simply email me what I need to print and show upon entry?
It seems a waste to fly back to the US just to go to the embassy for one day if I can help myself from having to do this.
nope you can't the minute you enter in the online system that you are NOT in the US it locks you out and you can't go any further. It says go to the consulate in the country you're in and apply
SO you need to contact the thai consulate there and see if they'll sell you an METV and if they will what the requirements are.
It takes between 5 and 15 days to get an eVisa approved so it's not just one day.
Also when you have an unrelated question make your own post do NOT hi-jack other threads.

it is available online using the eVisa service and it's sold at ALL the consulates in the US that issue eVisas (Chicago, Los Angeles, New York & Washington DC)
You do need to show why you want an METV <-submit proof you're leaving thailand in 60 days and coming back, OR they'll only sell you a single entry and keep the difference in price.
you can't stay 180 consecutive days, so it won't recommend METV because it still wouldn't let you. I doubt their system would ever tell you to get a Visa and do a border run.
