Aloha all. In Chiang Mai visiting. We live permanently in the Philippines on a long term residential visa (SRRV) for me and my mother. Wife and son are dual Filipino & American citizens. Question: when we go back to Davao City Philippines, are we eligible to apply for the METV online? Is that 100% online and jo need to go to Manila? TIA.

Philippines doesn’t use the online system as yet. You need to apply in person.

could we apply online since we all have US passports, through US and then just use it when we leave Philippines?

Yes you can, you need to show the Thai embassy in the US though a plane ticket leaving the US going to Thailand for them to issue you the visa. (can be a refundable ticket, then just cancel it after your visa is issued).

the big problem is your paid for plane ticket, and where it flies out of to get to Thailand, that they base acceptance, or rejection, on, not where it shows where you applied from.

Nope you’d need to be in the US to use the online system. Some say you can try and “trick” the system by just saying you are. How successful that could be is unknown to me.

I don’t know the process there but with most SE Asia embassies it’s a two or three day process. You apply one day pick up the next (or two).
