Hi folks! How are you? I would have a rather specific question for you, please (bottoms up your pina colada before venturing any further would be my suggestion) :

I'm sure it's going to feel as good a breeze of renewal as it feels for me, but hey, I want to work remotely as a digital nomad (self-employed, offering counselling services online, not working for any company) in Thailand.

I have not started my business yet and spent the last many months travelling, so my only asset is savings, a bit of education and a plan. I have the proper education/diploma and realistic funds, above the minimum required to have to apply for DTV in my country.

Did anybody in a similar situation (only having a proper budget, education and business plan to show the Ambassy) apply for DTV among this group?

If so, did you miserably fail or whimsically succeed? Also, may you share any of the following with me, please? Suggestions, fair concerns, comments on what went wrong or could have been done better, gibe, what were the extra admin steps to achieve this goal, murder*us looks, etc., please?

Thanks a whole bunch for reading the words of this lost lamb. May the good vibes of travels chase you whenever, wherever (we're meant to be together) you go. :)

What about a REMOTE WORKER DTV when you Just start your own company, and don’t have any clients history yet.

Any experiences.?

Hi Group.

Following a visit today at True Digital Park, I visited Startup Thailand Center by NIA which is now open on Fl. 7. They give consultations from smart visas, BOI benefits, to company registration, etc.

I talked to a friendly staff about the 6 months Type S smart visa. According to her and reading the conditions specified in the official brochure (attached), it seems that you don’t need a company, can stay and work 6 months in Thailand without a WP. The visa if your (free) application is approved costs 10,000 THB and this visa would not be renewable (in its 6 months version). Application could be done in Thailand if you have permission to stay for at least a month (count 40 days to play safe) which is the time needed for your application to be processed.

You only need to submit a business plan which needs to be compliant with the conditions listed below. According to the lady (sorry if it looks like hearsay), they are quite easy (don’t translate as “they are stupid and will endorse anything”) to give this visa if you can show your planned activity is related to helping startups.

Has anyone tried (and succeeded) in getting this 6 month type S smart visa online or through the OSS Smart visa Unit to validate my understanding of the requirements?

Thanks 🙏🏻
