Hi, everyone! I almost hesitate to write since I applied this morning only. (Hoping for a successful result on Wednesday afternoon. 🤞🏻) However, I thought I'd still try to help others.

In case you haven't seen this info in other posts, in addition to the documents stipulated in the infographic, do take the following:

1. A copy of your passport, even though they'll be keeping the original

2. A copy of your Lao visa on arrival (or other Lao visa), even though it's in your passport they'll be keeping

Finances:

Even though (or maybe because) I maintained more than double the required amount in a Thai bank account for the last six months, the officer didn't pay much attention to my bank statements.

Employment:

Instead, there was a lot of focus on my employment confirmation letter. Even though our HR (I work remotely, full-time) prepared it with great care, it didn't seem sufficient. The officer was looking for "company licensing documents" and/or a full employment contract. Definitely err on the side of providing too much information!

Other tips:

Although not necessary, you can save yourself some time at the Embassy by printing and completing the visa application form beforehand, and gluing your two pics in the spaces provided.

(Although this might not be the case for everyone, they didn't ask any questions about where I'm staying in Thailand (or Laos).)

Would anyone that successfully obtained the DTV mind sharing their support letters they received from their employees etc.? Surely with redacted personal info, but just to get an idea what should be in there.

Application as a remote worker.

Everything super smooth, they asked me only once for xtra docs: eemployment confirmation with the stamp/signature + national ID & passport scans (all pages). So nothing complicated or weird.

Total time from sending the first form to approval - 10 days only (!).

All done online. Would probably be faster if they didn't ask for these extra docs.

Some questions about obtaining or transferring to a DTV visa. I recently left my job working in a Thai school to teach exclusively online and wish to obtain a DTV visa as a 'digital nomad'. I am currently staying in Thailand (with a registered address) on a tourist visa. What is the process for applying for a DTV visa; must one exit Thailand first to submit an application from a foreign country, and must the applicant stay in that country during the processing of the visa?

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Want to say a big thank you for all of the sage advice and info in this group. I read through many posts to gather info before I applied for a METV in the U.S. through the DC embassy. It paid off because I received my METV within 2 days.

Some tips I would share - For the question on your flight info, you can only upload one document but I knew that I had to show my flight into BKK but also leaving and returning to Thailand, to support the need for a METV. So I included all flight info in one pdf that I uploaded.

For the bank balance info. I don't remember if they asked for 6 months of balances of $700+ but that is what I provided. The Embassy came back and asked for 6 months of $7,000 balance, so I provided it. I redacted my bank statements so that all that showed was the month end balance.

Info in this group also indicated that I would need a confirmation of employment. The online application did not ask for this info but the Embassy did ask for it, so you need to have it.

For accomodation - I showed hotel for 1st 15 days and they didn't ask for any addt'l info.

Wondering if someone can help with question 8. What kind of confirmation do they want ? Is this more a proof of employment like a contract or do they actually want a personal statement about me from my manager etc?
