Follow up and PSA: Land border reentry with DTV almost got declined at Nong Khai by Thai officials.

TLDR: Officer told me I cannot come back at Nong khai, must use flight. Thai gf saved my a$s and got me through 🙏

Full story - Almost got declined today at Nong Khai checkpoint. Had all documents (could have even reapplied for a another fresh DTV with the amount of documents I brought along with me lol), but the officer didn't ask to see any of it.

During departure the Thai IO simply saw my Indian passport and sent me to a different chamber where another IO straight up told me "you can go to Laos, but you cannot come back through here. You have to fly in."

That presented several problems for me as me and my gf had our entire northern thailand trip planned already after my reentry. I told the IO that I have all documentations but he didn't care, and told me again "if you leave thailand , you have to fly back in". Then I told them that my gf had already stamped out right before me, and he inquired what I was doing in thailand, and asked to see photographic proof of my cooking class attendance (which I have). He then gestured to get my scans and stamped me out without saying to me anything further.

The things on the Lao side were buttery smooth, and I was surprised because I was expecting Laos to be the part where I might get denied entry due to some people from my national looking for job and overstaying in Laos. Got on the bus, crossed the bridge, filled out the VOA form and the Laotian IO asked was how long I will stay, I told them I intend to return the same day, to which the IO asked if I was sure that Thai would let me in again. I showed them my DTV and they seemed satisfied, assigned the VOA with 40 dollars, no more questions.

Stamped out of Laos after spending a couple of hours at a nearby cafe, and got on the bus. Back on the Thai side - IO saw Indian passport, was asked to go into another backroom chamber with a few IO officers there. The officer asked if I could stay one more day in vientiane or not, but my remaining trip was already planned, already had tickets, so I could not extend my stay there by a day. She called up another officer and then stamped me in, another 6 months. Oh and she did ask my gf how long we were together.

So, I am in. Haters can hate, racists can race, but Love always wins. And by God's grace and Thai gf's love I got in 😊😁 Almost thought I wouldn't make it, though, so got worried for a moment.

And yeah, my fellow Indians with DTV, recommend you don't try Nong Khai reentry. My experience was not good, and there was no reason for it to be this way other than my nationality. No documents were requested and only the departure IO wanted to see proof of cooking class attendance. I had carried a whole folder full of documents with me, rent contract and receipts, updated cooking class enrollment letter, health insurance policy, my work CV, my Thai tax ID, and what not. Try fly to Kuala Lumpur with a weeks stay next time.

I was wondering if it matters at which airport you reenter with the DTV (Chiang Mai or BKK for example). After some bad experiences on other visas and visa exempt in BKK I feel like avoiding it but flight connections from Vietnam are a lot better and I thought maybe BKK is okay when you come back in on a DTV but I dont want to take any risks. Thank you for any experiences you could share!

Does anybody know why my 90 day online could be rejected ? I did it many times in person. This is the first time after I reentered with an reentry visum about 90bdays ago. It is 12 days BEFORE the actual due date.

Hello, a friend of mine (US Citizen) recently left Thailand and realized upon arriving home back in the states that he did not receive any exit stamp at suvarnabhumi. Will this be an issue for his next trip to Thailand?
