I was wondering if it matters at which airport you reenter with the DTV (Chiang Mai or BKK for example). After some bad experiences on other visas and visa exempt in BKK I feel like avoiding it but flight connections from Vietnam are a lot better and I thought maybe BKK is okay when you come back in on a DTV but I dont want to take any risks. Thank you for any experiences you could share!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among experienced travelers is that it does not significantly matter which airport you reenter Thailand through when holding a DTV visa, such as Bangkok (BKK) or Chiang Mai (CNX). Several respondents indicated they had smooth entry experiences at both airports, regardless of their nationality or passport ranking. However, some caution was noted regarding potential issues at regional airports like Phuket, mainly attributed to individual circumstances rather than the airport itself. Overall, it appears that travelers can feel confident using Bangkok for reentry without substantial risk of complications.

Not even an issue, just live your life, you're not returning to North Korea 😂

It does not matter at all.

It would be a problem if you were doing vsa exemption runs. Otherwise you have done the right thing with the dtv

It doesn't matter when how where you enter Thailand on a DTV. You have the 5 year visa approved already. It's the person's mindset especially all the travellers that did multiple visa exempt entries prior they are used to being questioned about scamming immagration system. DTV is different answers minimal and first speak if not spoken to simple

It shouldn't matter, yet there are supposedly reports of "issues" when entering via Phuket or Chiang Mai. I do think, however, those issues were due to the specific people's situation, not the airport itself.

Oh thats really interesting to hear that in this case chiang mai is more strict than bkk. so far it has always been bangkok that was the less preferable port of entry. Thank you!

Irrelevant where you enter , you can still be interviewed at random.

do you seriously think they interview people randomly? Or do you not understand what that word means?
