Has anyone ever tried to export a motorcycle from Thailand and import it into the UK? The Honda CT125 is not available in the UK and a family member is asking if I can help out.

For clarity, specialist importers are offering the bike in the UK at 2.5x the price here in Thailand.

If you don’t know, and/or have nothing valuable to contribute please refrain from commenting.

Used Scooter Buying: Am I supposed to go to the DMV and register it and change the ownership to my own name? Seems like most expats just buy it and don't register or change the ownership to their name. Also, is buying insurance for it necessary?

Hi, I am looking to purchase a moto on a visa exempt entry. I know that I can't get the Certificate of residency at Bangkok without a 90 day report.

My question is, if I go to Pattaya and get a Certificate of Residency can I bring that paper back to Bangkok to purchase and register the moto using the out of province CoR or does the registration of the vehicle have to be in the same province as where the Certificate or Residency was issued?

Thanks!

A question under the 'everything else' category.

Is it possible to buy a second hand pick up and register ownership in my name when I do not have a driving license.

I will be on a one year retirement visa extension and I have a yellow house book and pink ID card.

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Can I buy a new or used car in Thailand on a visa exempt? I read that a residence certificate is required too from Thai Immigration or my country’s embassy in Thailand, so how would that work if I’m on a visa exempt? Thanks

I would like to hear from anyone who has managed to change ownership of a car without the residence certificate. The owner’s work visa has expired and they are not currently in Thailand. If the owner comes back on a tourist visa, getting a residence certificate (which I believe is only possible after a 90 day stay) is not a viable solution. Any advice appreciated.

**No need to comment if you reckon not possible.

Hi all. I'm on a non o multiple entry marriage visa. 1 year but 90 day entry at a time. I am getting mixed information from DLT and IO. I am in Phu Sang, near Chaingkham, Phayao district.

I am buying a car/truck. DLT here are saying I need to be in Thailand for 1 year before I can have it in my name. However, IO in Phayao said to go to DLT, get a letter from them and they will sort the paperwork. Whatever that means.

I understood, before starting this. that I could get a residency paper from IO, take that with seller, to DLT and have the vehicle in my name. It appears not to be that simple.

Not sure what to do? I can put it in my wife's name but wanted it in mine. BTW, we have been married 34 years so no issues there. We both, mostly, live in the UK though I'm now retired and want to spend more time in Thailand.

Does anyone here know what "off the pawn" means relative to used cars? I spoke with a lawyer and his answer didn't jive with my guesses and just seemed weird.
