Hello.

Does anyone heave any recent experience applying for a STV in a country adjacent to Thailand?

I live and work in Bangkok but would like to quit my job and take a few months as a tourist before making my next step. It seems

that STV makes most sense (?) cos I already have accommodation here and am not sure how long I want to stay....but on the website for Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh the advice seems to be specific to Cambodian nationals (and I am from the UK). I could not find anything on Thai Embassy website for Laos.

1. So if anyone knows if they are issuing STVs from these embassies i would appreciate your input.

1. And if there are any special requirements above and beyond the current Covid related hoops to jump through? For example, did you have to show proof of onward travel?

Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

The Thailand Special Tourist Visa (STV) is currently set to end September 30, 2022. If I get the STV this year on say September 1st, does that currently mean I must leave on September 30th? Or does this just mean you need to apply and be approved by September 30th then you may stay 90 days and decide to extend up to 2 times? Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Everyone,

For the Thailand Special Tourist Visa (STV), can you extend your visa then leave Thailand and come back within the visa extension time frame without issue? Also, for the STV visa requirement of 3 months of rent purchased, does the entire 3 month rent have to be at the same building or can it be multiple rentals that cover the entire 3 month time frame?

Thank you for your time!

Hi has anyone applied for an STV? Do you know if you have to have an onward ticket (ticket out of Thailand) to be allowed entry? The STV has an initial 90 day permission with possible 2 X 90 day extensions. If an onward flight is required by immigration can this be beyond the initial 90 days if you plan to extend at Immigration bureau IN Thailand??, thanks

Anybody driving the Embassy mad over this STV, I really wouldn't bother them. Here is an email from earlier today

UPDATED 16.09.2020 - 13:50 BKK Time

We would like to provide you this updated information.

The Thai government cabinet has just approved the policy to allow longstay tourists to enter Thailand with the Special Tourist Visa (STV Visa).

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration and all the other government ministries and agencies are currently working on the detailed requirements. However, we are now able to share the following information to you:

When this longstay tourists program can officially begin, 1 - 3 chartered flights will be allowed to land in Thailand per week with an estimation to bring in 1,200 longstay tourists per month.

Every longstay tourist must quarantined at a government approved ASQ or ALSQ hotel accommodation for 14 days.

Each Longstay tourist will be granted a Special Tourist Visa which will allow him or her to stay in Thailand for 90 days including the 14 days quarantine procedure.

This Special Tourist Visa can be extended 2 times each time as a 90 day extension. Therefore, the maximum total stay is 270 days.

As the representative of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, we will process and help you with your application documents. We will send your documents to the Ministry of Foreigner Affairs. Once you have received the approval, we will let you know so you can get your Special Tourist Visa and your Certificate on Entry at your nearest Thai Embassy or Consulate. At the Thai embassy/Consulate, you will still need to get the Fit to Fly Medical Certificate proving that you do not have Covid19 [members only]

Right now, the requirements to obtain this Special Tourist Visa are:

1. Payment and Booking Confirmations of ASQ/ALSQ quarantine accommodation and accommodation after 14 days quarantine. Payment and Booking Confirmation of accommodation after 14 days quarantine are not needed if the tourist show proof of a property ownership in Thailand or has a close relative who has a property in Thailand. Proof of Rental Agreement can also be used. (We still need to wait for Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration and all the other government ministries and agencies for more further details on the exact requirements)

2. Proof of a medical insurance that covers at least 100,000 USD for medical expense related to Covid19. (We still need to wait for Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration and all the other government ministries and agencies for more further details on the exact requirements)

3. Pass criminal record check with the Royal Thai Police

We will also be assisting you with providing medical insurance and accommodation options for both ASQ/ALSQ quarantine and after quarantine.

Furthermore, we are still waiting for Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration to set the policy on passengers from which countries will be allowed to come to Thailand as a longstay tourists.

We look forward to hear from you soon.

Yours Sincerely,

Armaj Sombunjaroen (Flash)

Thai Longstay Management Company Limited

Guy's there is nothing to do right now, as the email shows more information and Details are need to be communicated!
