Hi, my friend arrives in Thailand entering with visa exempt status (60 days) his return ticket is dated 88 days after arriving. After 60 days or a little less he was going to apply for a 30 day extension. Will he have a problem as the flight ticket is 88 days and the visa exempt is 60 days. Thanks everyone

Listening today to the "Thai Expat Daily Show" Podcast, a Thai News podcast by an Irish Expat, he quoted the new Thailand Prime Minister as saying that he was considering extending the Visa Exempt from 30 days to 90 days.

Obviously there's things that they would need to consider before extending it, such as losing income from extending the Visa Exempt by 30 days @ 1900 Baht. Also there is currently also a Tourist Visa (60 days, off the top of my head without checking) & lost income from that.

What do you think about that? A couple of thoughts of my own:

1) there's a lot of people who use the current Visa Exempt and extensions to spend as much time in Thailand as possible, virtually living there. Wouldn't a 90 day Visa Exempt make it easier to 'live' in Thailand? Your thoughts?

2) for those with intentions to obtain a Retirement Visa or Marriage/Spouse Visa, it would seemingly make it easier, with more time to open a Bank Account and getting those Visas organised without the stress of running out of time as with the current Visa Exempt and extensions. Your thoughts?

My mate has been in Thailand for 1 year on Covid extensions. We are surat Thani.

1. Can he border bounce on a motorbike to Malaysia (best crossing town also appreciated?) returning with visa exempt?

2. Should he do a visa run to Penang / KL to buy 60 day TR? Italian passport. Cheers!

I’m a U.S. passport holder (I have an Onward Tix + Cash to meet req. to stay).

I’ve never used the “Visa Exempt” option before as my stays have been lengthy. So what forms do I fill out to enter Thailand? Or how does the process work….Typically I either have a TR visa or use the Visa on Arrival option….So what do I do differently when entering through “VISA EXEMPT”?

TIA

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone has experience entering Thailand Visa Exempt or on a Tourist Visa and then changing to a Non-Immigrant B Visa at the Thai Immigration Bureau?

As I will eventually be working as a teacher in Thailand, my specific question relates to the requirement of a certified university transcript. The process for certifying a university transcript in the United States is extremely time consuming. I’ve already initiated the certification process in the United States, but I may not receive my certified documents in time. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to certify a university transcript in Thailand and how to do it?

Thanks,

Brian

I will be entering Thailand on the 30 day visa exempt, then renewing for a further 30 days at 1900bht, so my return flight ticket will be about 58 days, am i better buying an onward ticket within the first 30 days then scrapping it.

Sorry for the long post... I'm a bit worried about my next steps into Thailand, do you think I will be OK?

I entered Thailand last December on visa exempt, and stayed for only one week - I entered just to begin my trip through Laos.

Then, I entered the kingdom at the end of January on a SETV, which I extended.

I went to Vietnam (April) and stayed there for one month. Then, I came back to Thailand (May) on another visa exempt, which I extended.

After that, at the end of June I came back to my home country (Spain) to take care of my business here - I have a little business in Spain.

Now I'm going back to Thailand on September, with a new visa exempt. After 20 days I'll travel to Vietnam (I have already bought my plane tickets) and I'll stay around 20 days in Vietnam. After that, I want to come back to Thailand in another visa exempt.

In September I'm going to apply for an ED Visa (I have already chosen school) so in October I'm coming back to Thailand just to get the paperwork and fly out to Vientiane to get the proper Visa.

All my past and future entries in Thailand were by plane.

I'll have proof of funds in cash and flight out, but not proof of stay because I'll stay in the same condo as last time - and only have an email from them confirming my arrive, but not a proper booking.

Never did a border bounce, each time I went out of Thailand I stayed at least one month out.

Do you think it'll be OK?

I prefer to avoid to get a SETV in my country because going to the Embassy or sending my passport to them requires an absurd cost because I live far away from the Embassy - around 100€, plus the cost of the SETV.

Thank you so much in advance :)
