Went to the Mae Sai border ,

1st and only farang in line :

went to the Tachilek border .

very warm welcome , from all the officers .

picture, handprint , proof of 4 anti corona vaccinations ,

10 $ US . go through a few offices , talked to a few Myanmar officers who know what they talk about , got real infos. no " maybe but" .

Stamped in ,

leave passport at the border ,went for a little shopping .

saw a friend who can be trusted , he told me that : very rarely he sees 1 farang per day . usely with a thai wife coming for some shopping .

back to the border , stamped out , got passport back .

went to the Thai border , lined up behind 3 chinese guys coming straight from Xichuangbana . .then usual warm welcome from thai officer , photo , handprint , 1 question : " where do you go and stay tonight". stamped in . Came back to Thailand .

All process very smooth . didn't see one farang .during the process . later saw a very few farangs shopping in Mae Sai bazar .

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares a detailed account of their experience crossing the Mae Sai border into Myanmar and back into Thailand. They outline the step-by-step immigration process, which includes handprints, photos, vaccination proof, and payments at both the Mae Sai and Tachilek borders. The user notes that they were the only foreigner (farang) in line and receives a warm welcome from the officers. They also mention limited encounters with other foreigners and provide anecdotal insights into the frequency of foreigner crossings. Throughout the comments, there are discussions addressing the accuracy of some claims and the procedures pertaining to the movement of individuals from China.

You had 4 Covid shots? Were you also double masked?

@Giorgio *****
Calm down. Clearly you're the troll with issues. Go out and get another booster shot and don't forget to double mask, I hear the XXX.666 variant is on the loose.

They are probably living in Xishuangbanna, so they come from there. They didn't however travel from Xishuangbanna to Tachilek and then to Mae Sai, because there is no official border checkpoint allowing them to do that. They could only do this trip by crossing into Laos at Boten then into Thailand at either Chiang Khong or Chiang Saen.

4 covid shots . yes sir !

anyway these infos don't concern you ! as you're not going to cross Mae Sai border soon

so I don't see why you're trying to find something you don't about . your life seems so boring , you've got nothing else to do but look for trouble . and I'm sorry if these guys told me they came from Xishuangbana . I wasn't in the position to check their passport . but I'm sure you yourself would have check it , you are so distinguish and delicate , with your gentleman beer drinker manners .
Paul *******
Giorgio AkhaIn fact I do intend to cross into Tachilek in the relatively near future. Your presumptions and arrogance are reflected in every comment you make. You clearly know nothing about me.

happy I don't !!!

in which troll farm were you raised ?. do you think the earth is flat ?? do you think the Joe Biden we see nowadays is JOE PESCI wearing a latex mask ?
Paul *******
Chinese can't cross over from Xishuangbanna unless they arrived via Laos and either Chiang Khong or the Golden Triangle Crossing. Mongla is closed. Even to Chinese. Those permitted across can only roam around Mongla.

If you mean the Chinese came via Laos, then that would be a plausible story.

Yes but,,, you stated "facts", however you used second hand, hearsay, testimony from someone else, who's not here to confirm, or deny, so NOT "facts". 😵‍💫

@James ********
I shared my own experience in details , and I call this FACTS no second hand . sorry if you didn't understand .

if you want to check out my friend's testimony you cross the border yourself . he works right over the bridge . he's done it for more than 20 years . and it can be said than almost everybody who crosses the bridge walks in front of him ! so Yes he's got a good insight about who crosses the bridge .

and when you are a farang it's quite hard not to look like one .

so he knows one or two farangs a day from a crowd of farangs like it used to be years ago . g

@Giorgio *****
Of course there are hardly any farang crossing into Myanmar at Tachilek (or via any port of entry) at the moment.

There's a war going on. You still have Covid restrictions. There's a lack of awareness about which border crossings are open. Lots of travel restrictions and parts of the country closed to foreigners. Travel insurance not valid. Government travel advisories strongly recommending against Myanmar travel.

Hence why so few are visiting Myanmar right now.. it's not exactly rocket science.

are you aware that not everybody who goes for a border bounce has the chance to be able to drive and may have to catch one or 2 buses . anyway my post was just informative , for who wishes to cross at the Mae Sai border , and as it's possible ,I don't see why go to chang kong .

your life is so boring , you need to hassle somebody , go and find yourself some John Doe .
Paul *******
@Giorgio *****
Dude, why is every one of your posts so aggressive and confrontational? Just because you don't own a car doesn't mean you have to lash out at others. We know there are plenty of people who use public transit. Not a big deal. Grow up.
Jyrki *********
@Giorgio *****
WHO is hassling?
Paul *******
@Giorgio *****
I never posted that. You have comprehension difficulties. I said if he doesn't want to deal with Myanmar's Covid nonsense then Laos is better because they've lifted their restrictions.

is it a problem if I shared the info? I will delete my comment if it is a problem

@Mark *****
no it's not a problem .if you share the infos. everyday people are wondering where they can cross ,

some people who haven't cross the border , some people who think that maybe it'is possible here or there , but don't know . some other try to guess .

2 or 3 days ago somebody ask if he could cross at Mae Sot . somebody told him that he didn't know , but told the guy ,if Mae Sot wasn't open he could try Mae Sai , like if Mae Sai was next door ! and if Mae Sai wasn't open he could cross all the north east of Thailand to go to Chiang Kong and across to Huay Xai in Laos ..

so I posted today to inform from experience , not from guesses , that Mai Sai border is opened , and if you can supply sufficient documents and pay 10 Us $ . you can get 30 days ...

But some people are still not satisfied with my clear detailed info .
Paul *******
@Giorgio *****
Everyone knows Mae Sai is open. It's mentioned on the Myanmar e-visa website and a few weeks ago Mai Morris posted his report of crossing to Tachilek and spending a week there.

Mae Sot is closed to foreigners. This means westerners, Chinese, Indians, Malaysians. Everyone who isn't Thai or Burmese.
Giorgio ******
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Paul ******
of course everybody who is wandering if Mae Sai border is gonna be opened to morrow knows Mai Morris . and they know that he crossed to Tachilek A FEW WEEKS AGO !!!!!

but then why did you told a guy the day before I posted , that if Mae Sot is closed he should try Mae Sai , and if Mae Sai is closed he can always cross all the north east of Thailand to go to Chiang Kong , and cross to Laos
Jyrki *********
@Giorgio *****
Mae Sai - Chiang Khong 88 km
Giorgio ******
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Jyrki ********
you probably flew over your Kookoo's net

MAE SAI to Chiang Rai , direct , by road ,is around 70 some Km , depending on how much beer you drunk , and the way you negotiate the curves

Chiang Rai to Chang kong is roughly 100 km , also depending how you drive in the curves , and they are many , either way : along the MEKONG river , or across the country side where you might get lost !!! so that adds up to 88km for you . stop drinking or take some math classes from a country where 2+2=4 , before asserting what you don't

know about .
Jyrki *********
@Giorgio *****
"Cross all The North east of Thailand"!!! :-) You are a joke! Google Maps says IT IS 88 km. You don't Have to drive from Mae Sai to Chiang Rai! There is a direct way. I Have Been driving that Many Times..
Paul *******
@Jyrki ********
Yes, also, I remember Chiang Rai to Mae Sai is just 62km. A journey I've done many times...by car. Takes only 45-50 mins, depending on the traffic and how many time you're stopped at the many checkpoints.
Giorgio ******
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Paul ******
what you've got is called alzheimer

many check points , when it's only 2 check points .

62 km when the road sign a few km from the border, out of the city of Mae Sai says 69km ,

45 /50 minutes , you must be driving like a mad man , when it takes you between 20 and 30 minutes depending on the traffic , just to reach the airport .

once more , you prove you don't know what you're talking about . but you desperately need to blow air to feel alive . go back to your boring life , and stop dispensing FAKE infos .
Paul *******
@Giorgio *****
Yeah it's 20-30 min from the city to the airport by bus, which is what you catch. Not so by car, which is much faster and once you're past the airport its quite fast you do 100-120km/h, like everyone else does. Then the checkpoints slow you down of course.
Paul *******
@Giorgio *****
Now go get yourself checked for a stroke and sign up for anger management classes.
Paul *******
@Giorgio *****
I've been there many times old man..calm down. It's 62km. The sign says so in Mae Sai heading towards Chiang Rai and it's a number of checkpoints that can take a while.
Mark ******
@Giorgio *****
oh yes, sorry, you are right....thank you very much for your post, it was truly informative 🙏
