ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:

UPDATE ON FLIGHT CANCELLATION/OVERSTAY POLICY

It would appear that Immigrations came out with TWO options people can follow concerning flight cancellations/overstay

Option 1 - If you want to reschedule your flight and exit thailand,

You reschedule your flight, show up at the airport, show proof your flight was cancelled and it appears passport control will waive the overstay fine and let you stamp out to leave.

Option 2 - IF you want to get an in country "extension of stay" based on flight cancellation at the immigration office serving the area where you stay.

In order to do this option you have to get a letter from your embassy requesting an extension because this 30 day extension is based on the embassy request clause 2.8

You take the embassy letter, filled out TM7 (application for extension), proof your flight was cancelled and go to the immigration office

If you have an overstay from this situation you WILL BE CHARGED for it at 500baht a day, but once you clear the overstay fine you can apply for the 30 day 'embassy request' extension for 1900baht

At this time it would appear the only option for an in country extension that immigrations is allowing is via the embassy request clause ( clause 2.8 )

I'm going to the immigration office in Bangkok tomorrow to extend my stay for 30 days. Does anyone know what I should prepare? Are there any forms I can prefill, and what kind of documents should I ask the hotel to prepare for me? Anyone with previous experience, please share, as this is my first time going to the immigration office in Bangkok.

Going over my checklist for one year extension of Non-O retirement visa in Chonburi/Pattaya.

Visa expires on 28 January but I'd like to apply on 16 or 19 January.

TM7 form (includes acknowledgement of penalties)

Passport photos

Copy of passport pages.

Copy of 1 year signed rental agreement

Copy of one year bank statement

Copy of bank book pages with same day update

Copy of TM30

Bank Letter certifying minimum baht requirement (I had no transfers since my last extension)

Am I missing anything? Please advise.

Admission for extended stay at Kalasin office. This is the first year I have had to use the monthly deposits in my Thai Bank Account method. Previous years the Canadian Embassy issued proof of income letters. I applied for an extension based on retirement so was meticulous at least ฿65,000 was deposited each month. I was a little worried that Wise transferred the money to their Kasikornbank account, and then Kasikornbank transferred the money to my SCB account and it didn't show as an international transfer, but that didn't seem to be a problem. I went to the SCB branch in Kalasin and told them what I wanted and they produced the letter almost right away. I then went to Kalasin Immigration, I got there just before 1 and was done before 2:30. I gave them the TM7 form with a picture, the TM8 (reentry form) with a picture, copies of the used pages in my passport, a copy of my yellow book and pink ID card, the bank letter, and what they seemed most interested in proof of my funds from Canada. I had my 2024 Government tax slips T4A NR4 and a letter from my former company showing what my monthly pension was, and proof from CPP and OAS what my monthly pensions from them were. The officer then converted the pensions from Canadian $ to Thai ฿. I also included 12 monthly bank statements from SCB showing the deposits from Wise into my SCB account. The officer seemed to be satisfied and issued the extension of stay. Just a note to the Canadian Government, you turned what used to be an easy process by issuing the letter of income into a rather complicated process. Thanks a lot.

Hello all.

I have an appt in January at Khon Kaen Immigration to extend my current Non-O 90 day retirement visa to a year. The email I received from them seems simple enough. It lists only 3 items, Application form, copy of passport, Evidence of income and/or account deposited in a Thai bank.

Does this seem correct for Khon Kaen? Looking at the nightmares from other immigration places, this is a breeze.

Is the application form the TM47?, it doesn't say.

I will of course bring the TM30 I used for the certificate of residence I used last month for banking and drivers license. Anything else I should bring? KK is an hour and a half away, so going back and forth is a real pain. I did get a passport photo the other day, but it doesn't look like I will need it.

Thanks for the replies.
