TO EXTEND A NON-O VISA FOR A YEAR WHAT ARE THE STEPS?
Answer summary
To extend a Non-O visa in Thailand for one year, you generally need to follow these steps: 1. Identify the type of Non-O visa you hold (e.g., based on retirement, Thai spouse, etc.) as requirements differ. 2. Visit your local immigration office to receive a handout detailing the specific requirements. 3. Prepare necessary documents which may include the TM7 form, passport photocopies, proof of funds (like a bank letter), and appropriate photos. 4. Fill out the TM7 form beforehand to save time. 5. Submit your application along with your documents to immigration, where they will confirm if everything is in order before processing your request.

Immigration has a printed list on line and at your local office. Or.... just call an agent and let them do the work while you get on with your life?

If you have the required documents and prepared to do it yourself, it'll cost you 1900. An agent will cost at least 7000.

Better visit the IO where you will leave your applications. Required documents (may) vary between different IO's.

Ask them to list all the documents etc. needed.

I just done one year extension (TM7) and after "under consideration"-month re-entry permit (TM8). Non-O family visa (thai spouse).

Did you enter Thailand with a non-o visa? If so to extend you need to season your money for at least two months and then go to your IO with your passport and ask them what documents they need. If you are in jomtien, the office on your left will make ready all the documents for a few hundred baht

Visit your local immigration offices. There will be an information building or room. Ask for the relevant paperwork. If you have any questions they are very helpful. After you have completed the paperwork and have the relevant documents you can return to the information office and they will check everything is in order. You will then be sent to the immigration office where your documents will be entered into the database and if there is no queries you pay the fee and get your visa stamp.

but you can't just apply for a Non-O visa, you need to apply based on a reason and the requirements for a 12 month extension vary depending on that reason

Before you visit thr immigration office, come with your TM7 form filled and with the photo pasted. It will save you a lot of running queue numbers while you fill it on spot. If you want a reentry permit too TM8, do the same. You can download and print from the web.

You cannot do TM8 same time. For TM8 you need copy of rhe extension stamp. For me after TM7 I get "Under consideration"-stamp and after on month I got extension. Then I copied extension stamp page and other documents needed and applied TM8 (re-entry permit).

Matti Simpanen Of course he can. I do it every year. After receiving the O extension, I take a queue number for the re entry station, from the front desk, I hope down with the passport to copy the new visa, go up, wait for my number to be called, hand them the pre filled Tm8, give them 3,800 thb for multiple entries, and drive home happily. Some times when I fall on their lunch break at 12:00, I go down to eat something in the food court, take a tour at the on site market and return to get the reentry permit.

If a retirement visa you need a TM7 &8 plus two passport type photos . Your bank book showing the balance for one year , a letter from the bank confirming the balance and copies. Your need to visit the main immigration office once everything in complete. Not the bank letter is valid for 7 days only and copies of the bank book must include the day your visit . Just use the atm to update as saves time . Your also need copies of your passport visa main page etc etc . At the back of immigration they will copy for you the charge is between

B per copy .

You should normally visit your local immigration office and obtain a handout outlining their specific requirements for an extension of stay based on the Non O visa you entered on.

you cannot just apply for a non-O visa. It has to be based on something. non-O based on retirement, non-O based on Thai spouse, non-O based on half Thai child, non-O based on parent of a foreign child studying in Thailand, non-O based on married to a foreigner working in Thailand. As I said there are at least 10 different types of non-O and they all have different requirements for extension. Without knowing what classification of non-O, this question is impossible to answer. Unless you have a crystal ball and can tell us.
