Just letting everyone know that my husband went to immigration this morning to see about getting me a medical extension due to recently having jaw surgery. Immigration informed him that they aren't issuing any extensions right now - 'to come back later' if still can't travel come September.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A member of the expat community shared that their husband visited immigration seeking a medical extension due to their recent jaw surgery but was informed that no extensions are being issued at the moment. This has raised questions regarding the requirements and processes behind medical extensions and the current situation affecting them.
I would be surprised if you get much of an extension (if any) for that unless you have a letter from a reputable doctor or hospital to prove you cannot fly. A couple of times I've seen Thai wives applying for an extension for their foreign husbands who were bed ridden and seriously ill and immigration still required a lot of evidence and documentation for a short extension.
makes sense. The LONGEST they could have issued a medical extension would have been 3 months. Wait out the amnesty and see what happens closer to the end of Sept.
you weren't getting ANY visa :O it was only an extension based on medical reasons and believe me you have to be SUPER sick and have killer documentation to get a 3 month extension. Most people get 30 to 60 days, so it wouldn't have even made sense to apply now seeing as amnesty was extended until Sept 26th
Yes, I understand it's not a visa. I mistyped. And believe me, we aren't complaining about it. I guess I was just saying it'll be interesting what 'the plan' is come the next couple months.
