Could a british expat help with this, preferably someone that's gone through the process in recent years, cos us old schoolers had it very different 20yrs ago when u just popped in to your local consulate.

The online E visa is stating I need 2 types of insurance, which do I actually need and where is best to go for best rate?

The police criminal record clearance, is the Police Certificate obtained from ACRO for £65 what they actually want?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

On the website of the Thai embassy in the US for the visa application, it says: "FBI or certificate of criminal record clearance issued from State or Federal Bureau of Investigation". I asked if the "FBI Identity History Summary Checks (Rap Sheets)" is what I need to get. The Thai embassy in the US says that's not it.

What have others submitted??

I am in the process of applying for O-A visa from Canada. One of the requirement is a "Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality". Is this something I can get online?

Does anyone know if the criminal record clearance for supporting docs for a retirement visa can be from the USA state you’re currently in or should it be where your permanent residence is (even if you haven’t lived there)?

First of all, thanks to all the dedicated administrators and active forum members for all your knowledge and insight.

I think I'm beginning to suffer from information overload as I prepare to move over to Phuket for two years (or more) come October.

I'm gathering the necessary docs to come over on a Non Immigrant O-A visa. I plan on mailing the docs from San Francisco to the L.A.Thai Consulate, but I have some nagging concerns as I prepare for the move.

1. I have a CA government pension that comfortably exceeds the 65000 baht monthly minimum. It is administered by CalPers and they directly deposit it into my Charles Schwab bank account. CalPers will provide a letter showing my monthly income benefit. Is it sufficient to get that notarized or should I also obtain documents from Schwab and have them notarized? And, do you then have each copy individually notarized or just one with the balance copied with the notary seal?

2. Is the best method to keep my money in the U.S. simply to return and reapply for another O-A visa near the end of two years? Otherwise I either have to season 800k baht in a Thai bank account two months prior to an in-country application or deposit a minimum of 65k baht per month for twelve months prior to said application. Do I have this right?

3. Finally, the City and County of San Francisco will provide a criminal records clearance letter free of charge showing no criminal history. But it's only for this county. It isn't statewide or nationwide. Is that adequate and does it also need to be notarized if it has the seal of SF County on it?

Thanks in advance for your help...and patience!

Sincerely,

Bill

I am applying in UK for a NonImm O-A Visa. It states the following:

‘Certificate of criminal record clearance from own country and country of permanent residence with validity of at least 3 months. Applicants residing in the United Kingdom will need to have a police clearance issued only from here’

What does validity of at least 3 months mean? I hope to apply online for my visa in 3 months as I have to wait for my funds to be seasoned, at what stage can I apply for my Certificate of criminal record clearance so that’s it’s valid?

Thank you🙏

Im hoping I can get some definitive answers here as the London Thai Embassy website has some conflicting information when you click through the links. This is my understanding of obtaining a Non Immigrant O-A visa based on retirement.

My application will be submitted through the online process after April 1st. I do live in London so any hiccups won`t be too hard to rectify but I assume I would be informed online of any problems. Have I got my facts right on the two following points?

1)The only document you need to get notarised is the criminal record clearance. I intend to get my bank statements stamped at my local branch and my medical certificate stamped by my GP.

2)There is no timescale to seed your account in advance of the application if showing a sum of 800k equivalent in a UK account.
