Hey Fam,

I’m currently filling out the DTV application and was curious what you guys put for number 6 below.

6. Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality or the country where the application is submitted.

Am just curious where did you guys pull this info from?

Also, I was curious is it better to send out the app as “Business Owner,” as I am a business owner (but I haven’t taken any owner distributions or gave myself a paycheck yet) or apply a “Freelance,” as I also trade options on the NYSE (I trade within both my personal and business accounts).

Thanks!

JC
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the DTV application, specifically regarding the requirement for a criminal record clearance certificate. Users share their experiences with obtaining this document and express concerns about banking-related issues that could affect their visa applications. Additionally, there is debate about whether to apply as a 'Business Owner' or as a 'Freelance' for the Non-O visa, particularly considering the nuances of each status and the impact on visa approval.

I knew this post was going to be a slow-motion train wreck, both from the self inflicted problems the O/P caused themselves and from the bank policy of freezing the funds..

What this isn't gonna do is devolve into a thread about why that bank company has that policy or how it's enforced. There are hundreds of threads out on the inter-web talking about it. You wanna chew the fat about it, find one of them and jump in .. ..

Keep the comments ON topic people

Print out the 12 month bank statement through your bank app, it sends it to your email. E voila 😁 we do that every year with the 12 month statement.

Immigration Phuket is our office btw.

Maria KL I tried this yesterday - unfortunately the app only goes back 12 months - I need a 13 month period bank statement 😊

You still have time to order a 12 month statement from the bank, it normally takes 5 working days and needs to go back at least as far as the date you received your prior extension, preferably a few weeks before that. You will likely therefore also need a new bank guarantee letter. Having said that you must have given the bank permission to freeze your funds, probably to get the letter, I don't think you have much of a chance of getting the extension but all you can do is try. If they won't give it to you you'll have no option but to leave Thailand and apply for a new 90 day Non-O visa at a Thai consulate in a nearby country

Is there any benefit to applying for the Non-O visa outside Thailand vs leaving / coming back on a 30 day exempt then applying for the Non O when here ?

Another 800 will have to be used in either of those scenarios yes

The Bkk bank frozen funds means frozen - I asked the question yesterday whilst at the bank - what if I had a medical emergency etc ( the bank official told me this situation happened with a different bank - needed part of her “ frozen funds “ to pay a hospital bill - and the bank was unable to oblige

John Stanners I ordered that at the branch yesterday

Hopefully I will have it over the weekend by email

It’s the bank letter that’s my concern

The letter I posted above is what you get if asking for another bank letter from Bkk Bank

As the funds were frozen the day of the original bank letter - so any subsequent bank letter doesn’t show the 800 as available as normal etc

And if that not acceptable to Immigration ( which is the core question of my post ) - then indeed I will have to leave and start all over again

Which then prob leads to more issues with a 800 k deposit ?

A new deposit will have to be sent ( as the 800 currently in Bkk is useless as any kind of bank letter until Jan )

And seasoned etc

Does CM immigration still require the initial 800 deposit as coming from abroad ?

Mika Martin apply for the 90 day Non-O visa outside Thailand. You can use funds in your home bank and have no worries about transferring from overseas for the visa application. But until 4 months have elapsed your going to have the same issue with the 800k baht in the Thai account being frozen so you might need to find another 800k to put in your thai bank for the extension of stay as it has to show in the account for 2 months prior to applying.

As

advised...GET THE EXTENSION IN CHIANG MAI.

Not to belabor the point or kick a person when they're down but you sure burned your stamp down before you went for the extension (which means you backed yourself into a corner as far as time to work out solutions to issues) In Chiang Mai you can apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less and most people go right around that time so if there's a problem you still have time to sort it

𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗠 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗵𝘂𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 ( 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝟮𝟲 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁 ) 𝗢𝗿 𝗮𝗺 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗺𝘆 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗠 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆

I would put that Phuket trip off and finish getting your yearly extension in Chiang Mai. I think you have a slim to none chance of getting the extension in Phuket :/

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝟰𝘁𝗵

The bank letter is valid for 7 days so Monday is the last day you could use it. You just have to update your bank book the day you apply.

That bank has had that "freeze your funds" policy for almost a year now so it's not a new policy, just new to you..

Man you backed yourself into a corner time wise, sorry that happened.. :/

Get the extension <- that's what lets you stay in country after all

There were reports of people downloading their 12 month statement from the b/b app printing that and immigrations accepting it

this won’t work in my case( the CM IO was willing to accept the app printed statement tho ) - Because the app only goes back 12 months - I need 13 months

I did my extension in “ early “ in August last year

It’s totally my own fault - I forgot to order the bank statement from date of last extension- not just a 12 month one etc 😊
