was just there (chiang Khong) last Sunday (an excellent day to go since not as busy )..very straightforward, but I was initiating an e-visa which I had received late, having entered on a visa exempt..so just a bounce was necessary.
what is your present status?? and type of re entry desired?..will make all the difference in determining how long you'd have to stay in Laos, for example.
if the current landlord or hotel seems unable, or reluctant to file a TM30 is it advisable to download the notification, fill it with as much info as you have available and take it unsigned but initialed, to the local immigration office where you have already made contact with copies of any current revised immigration stamps ..purpose not being to get landlord "in trouble" (as you would have already provided them of changes)..but , rather keep your relationship with Immigration authorities current and forthcoming ??
you can download TM7 via the internet..but there is a small supplementary page you have to usually get at IO . Went through this today in Chiang Rai, a good office as long as you have papers in order..
Especially helpful is a copy of the TM30 which your residence is supposed to submit ..but critical is a scanned copy of your passport ID page and the page where your entry was posted..two passport photos, and needless to say your actual passport. ..and 1900 baht. (have some more info for those whose multi entry Visa didn't get processed prior to arrival , but subsequently did..as well..but that is another can of worms, and not the question at hand.)
and, have no illusion that re entry with expectation of another visa exemption totally depends, and is the discretion of Thai Immigration when it happens.
yes, agreed. It would have been helpful to be aware of such changes in requirements is all I am stating, and am still current in an ongoing application...however it eclipsed my stated departure date, and so now am in county with the visa exempt status of 45 days and possibility for extension. (I reside in the North and had to do 60 day border runs with pre covid multiple entry (actual) visas so am used to the crossings ..usually used Mae Sai, but this year prior to visa exempt expiry will perhaps use Lao entry points instead. )
It perhaps depends on which country one is applying from, but the evisa application for a multiple entry has many conditions as compared to the simple mailing process of pre covid times. There are countless questions regarding income and place of residence to name but a few.
The evisa application for multiple entry (6 months) has changed the process dramatically..it resembles more a retirement visa application rather than a tourist one..There is no clear explanation of that prior to filling out the application and payment , of course has to be done as part of that.
I had 5 or 6 multiple entry 6 month visas mailed to me pre-covid without the scrutiny which currently exists. (Canadian citizen/ Canadian Thai Embassy)
Don't get me wrong..it's entirely up to the Thai government to amend conditions (in fact, very much resembles our own)..but wished it had been communicated prior to making application.
