Do I need to show a printed e-visa form for entry into Thailand?

Hello all, has any Americans entered Thailand recently with the new e-visa form? I was approved and all they sent me was a digital form saying I am approved and it has a scan code at the bottom.

Is this printed form all I need to show to immigration?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires whether a printed e-visa form is sufficient for entry into Thailand. Multiple comments confirm that it is necessary to print the approved e-visa and present it upon arrival at immigration.

Can you share what e-visa you got? How long did it take to get? And what was the cost?
Scot *******
OK, what is this?

It’s the new e-visa system where you don’t visit a consulate nor send your passport in. Everything is done online. The visa is sent as a PDF file for you to print out rather than a sticker in your passport.

- I did not hear about this until just now. Can it be done anywhere, assuming outside of Thailand? Cost? Thanks

Most SE Asian consulates are still walk in (some require appointments).

- place of permanent residency and current location can be two different things. How is that interpreted?
Stuart *********
@Scot ******
You put in your current location.

- OK, seems they should have just said that.

Hi Scot, my daughter is currently here on an ed visa that's expiring soon. We will go to Cambodia and come back in a few days. When doing the e-visa, am I to select the country we are physically sitting in right now for 'current location', which we will be in Cambodia when we fill this out? Or the country we are permanent residents of? I agree with you that its confusing.

@Nikki ********
- yes, it's not clear.

@Scot ******
No. check online if you qualify here.

Hi Stuart, I was speaking to you via private messenger regarding my university-aged daughter. We are going to travel to Cambodia or Laos this next weekend to get her onto a tourist visa (from the Ed Visa). We are from USA. Is this something we should fill out and show on our way back into Thailand at the airport in customs?

@Nikki ********
sorry I’m not familiar with the procedure with those exit points.

Do save the printout of the Evisa for if/when you want to extend your stay another 30 days in country because the immigration office will likely ask for a copy. 😉

YMMV

Put email attachment ( though looks a bit innocuous) somewhere safe..that is the official notification and will be required again..gives visa #, it's lifetime and other personal info..there is no longer a full page visa just a stamp on entry with a small "e-visa" notation..

@Gorgon ****
I copy my visa and code into Notes on my phone.
