TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for a Thai wife to obtain a Canadian visa can vary significantly based on several factors, including the quality of the visa application, her financial situation, and the specifics of the sponsorship or tourist visa categories. While the Canadian immigration department reportedly approves about 80% of legitimate applications, many applicants face challenges, including initial rejections and complicated sponsorship requirements. Personal experiences shared in the comments highlight a diverse toolkit of strategies for successful applications, from being truthful and providing a solid reason for travel to seeking references or assistance from local politicians.

Canada is easy, go to the embassy or call them first. Clear and easy path for her to come. However; if you think she will be happy there, think twice. My wife lasted about 2 weeks in the US and I don't live in a cold place. Now, we live here and couldn't be happier

Yeah you really need to travel there with your spouse before moving to get a feel for the climate and society. It shouldn't be a case of "get up and move over there". Such moves should be planned years in advance with at least 3 vacation trips by the wife to your country before a decision is made to relocate. Otherwise, as you say, your partner might be miserable.

Well, masks aside, Canada's restrictions during Covid were worse than Thailand's.
right, because the government in Thailand represents a big improvement over the one in Canada đ€Ł

Canada has a grossly inflated sense of self importance, arrogantly stating in the rejections "we do not believe you will leave the country." Like it's some beacon of wealth and freedom and everybody will want to live there in a cold country with toxic, unfriendly people.... Oh, and they tell their citizens to not forget to put the Canadian flag on your backpacks so everybody around the world will give you privileges!! You can't make this sh*t up!đ (HINT: Nobody gives a flying f*ck about your stupid flag)
I left that garbage country over 20 years ago and just want to bring my gf to meet my mother for a 2 week trip. Do you really think I want to move back to that cold sh*thole you a$$hole embassy workers???
plenty of people all over the world would give their left arm to emigrate to CanadaâŠit ranks far higher in every category of living standard than Thailand ever willâŠjust because you donât wanna live there, doesnât mean there arenât loads who do
we are pretty much on the same page , all I want is for her to meet my family and attend my sisterâs wedding

Do it yourself. Be 100% trueful. Have a good reason to take her there. Have a even better reason for her to come back. Make sure you're finances are enough to take care of her (not over about this a normal bank balance is sufficient). You will be fine. Good luck!
Canadian immigration is living in the past. The gap between Canada and Thailand has narrowed considerably. If you have a good job in Thailand there is no economic benefit to moving to Canada. You might get paid 3-4 times your Thai salary, but after taxes and much higher cost of living, you'll be worse off.
my GFs job pays 20k CAD in Thailand. With that she can afford nice condo, plus rental property, plus car, plus she saves every month. In Canada same job would pay 60-70k and she could only afford to rent lousy apartment, no car, and live pay cheque to pay cheque. But yes if you have 400thb per day job in Thailand, you are better off in Canada.
which is completely irrelevant to both the poster's question and to Canadian immigration. That said, 99% of expat jobs in Thailand have shit pay. Furthermore, there's no way you could afford your expat retirement lifestyle in Thailand after a Thai career.

True, although generally speaking, the salary difference is more likely to be 7-10 times and Canada is cheaper for some things like cars & imported groceries.

Depends on how hard the Canadian immigration is on accepting it . Because Australian immigration is a shit fight . Hahaha

My Thai GF got CDN tourist visa. Wasn't easy though, took two tries. I was pissed at the first rejection and wrote a scathing letter to my MP. To his credit he wrote a reference letter which may have helped. Absolute joke though when you consider how open our borders are.
Individual regular Income of the applicant is often the problem with Canadian applications ..and generally one is directed towards "sponsorship" applications otherwise...a much more tedious and complicated process.
However there may be allowances for marriage status, if things have changed.

Depends on the quality of the application by your wife? Bad candidates often get rejected, good candidates get approved - people processing these look at thousands abs thousands and the bad ones stand out
'bad candidates' lol? It's sadly become a shit country with inability to effectively use their taxpayer dollars is the actual problem. But the taxpayers there don't seem to mind unethical and incompetent govt.
no I meant living in the US. Sorry for not specifiying. Lol

People say it can't be done, are only showing reflections of their own limitations. That said, there are a lot of factors to consider, so it's hard to say. According to the immigration department, they end up issuing about 80% of them, that apply for legitimate reasons. No real rhyme or reason to approvals, apparently. Some have applied 5+ times, always get denied, then all of a sudden they say "approved" and nothing has changed except the issuer. I'm not sure how much difference there is for u.s. and Canadian applications, but this is the information I have for a u.s. applicant.
for US applications, once you have been denied once you have to show a change of circumstance to apply again. That is a challenge. In my experience to get any Asian girl into America she has to either be rich and employed with property ownership in her home country, have a job and a sponsoring company in America, been accepted at an accredited school willing to sponsor her, or you marry her. Those are the choices.
true. Took over a year for my wifeâs and an investment in helping me get all the paperwork done. She now has her green card but we have decided that we like Thailand over the United States and so we retired here instead staying there
