Out in the provinces is where a lot of us could really use it. 100-200km trips just to tell them you haven’t moved. 🙄

So basically, you need to make a trip to your bank just before you go to immigration on the same day. Get going early!

By the way, Bangkok Bank would only do 6 months of statements on the spot. They said 12 months of statements would require a week’s notice. I took the six months’ of statements and immigration accepted it.

Different IOs, banks = results may vary.

Make a “pre-trip” if you can, to both bank and immigration to get your ducks in order before the “real” trip. And do the real trip 2-3 weeks before your extension deadline to give you time to jump through more unexpected hoops if necessary. This MO has always worked well in my favor. Two successful retirement extensions and counting...

Immigration requires the above letter to be signed and dated THE DAY you apply for your extension.

Bangkok Bank is generally pretty good about providing this.

Just show this example to the bank. If they don’t know about it (usually a small branch), have them call headquarters.

Part of the same building? Or is it an entire other building and area (from commercial passengers Terminals 1 and 2)? (I'm hoping to avoid crowds of greeters and journalists).

The glue on my stickers is substandard. What’s your problem with them? 😋

P.S. I’ve flourished 17 years in LOS with neither a yellow book nor Thai ID.

Some agencies which can make money off you will try to press you to get them (here’s to you, Isaan Lawyers); but it’s all commercial hype, in my opinion.

I researched this quite a bit a couple years ago. Definitely NOT worth it to me. Had to get the yellow book before the ID. The process was fraught with time-consuming hassle and difficulties. Bureaucrats were clueless. Various district offices had wildly-divergent processes to obtain both documents.

I settled for a Thai driver’s license which ended up serving all the purposes I needed (ID, getting the Thai price, bank business, check-in for accommodations, etc.)
