ORIGINAL POSTER
Today a foreigner friend went to Thai immigration with a TM 30 to report his return to his home province after a trip over the new year holiday.‬

‪He was told all reporting requirements connected to TM30 are canceled. No more reporting of a return after leaving your home province‬.

This happened in Mahasarakham Province today, January 2nd.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A foreigner reported that upon returning to Mahasarakham Province from a New Year trip, Thai immigration informed him that all TM30 reporting requirements had been canceled, meaning no need to report returns after leaving the home province. However, comments suggest that this may vary by province, with some still requiring TM30 submissions upon re-entry and others potentially waiving such requirements.

If you are staying in a hotel or where they are reporting your stay, you don’t need to report your return.

If you are still in the kingdom, I wouldn’t worry about it. This isn’t Fahrenheit 451. They don’t want people jumping visas, terrorists and that kind of thing. Your landlord has put a perm TM30 for your contract unless otherwise notified.

As I understand it, it depends on the province. For example, Chiang Mai has never wanted to know when we left the province but stayed in Thailand. I've heard that Chiang Rai still wants to know, but am not sure if that has changed recently.

I believe you are correct. It's been my experience different provinces enforce different policies, differently.

Been going on for a while already. Still need to file a Tm30 if you leave the kingdom and come back.
