Is filling out the arrival/departure card enough for reporting return to Thailand, or is TM30 needed?

WANT TO CONFIRM

Expat living in Thailand. When returning from abroad, filling out my address on the arrival/departure card is not sufficient to report your return, correct?

If correct, TM30 required from house-master/owner/possessor of home within 24 hours of arrival as well?

What if I want to spend a couple nights in Bangkok before returning to upcountry? The hotel or owner of friend’s home reports me? Then my house-master/owner/possessor reports me again when I arrive home?

I live 100km from an immigration office. TM30 can be done @ local police station, right? Even if our local BIB have no idea what to do with it and won’t do the receipt at the bottom of the form, right?

Last question: Ever been between a rock and a hard place?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat in Thailand seeks confirmation about the requirements for reporting their return to Thailand, specifically asking if filling out the arrival/departure card is sufficient or if a TM30 is also necessary. They inquire about the procedure if they stay in Bangkok before returning home, the TM30 reporting process, and what to do given their distance from an immigration office. Responses vary, indicating that enforcement can differ by local immigration offices, suggesting checking with the local office for specific requirements, and offering alternatives such as online TM30 registration.

This is discussed so many times. It all depends on enforcement of your local Immigration Office. I respect that you only like to mention you live up north, but than you have to visit yourself the Immigration Office to find out how they enforce this address registration rule. There are to many Immigration Offices to tell you each and every one and their enforcement.

If you can register your house for online TM30 - you'll probably need a Thai reader to help to register but once done relatively simple to update after each trip abroad - no more 100km trips.

I managed it using this helpful guide:-

Roger - to register the house for TM30 I uploaded the house owners Thai ID card and house tabien baan (blue book) - you'll need a Thai reader just to help navigate the registration website. Once registered - immigration email a login name and password after 2-3 days, after that its relatively simple to add "foreigners " to the houses tm30 record.

Worth noting there is no print function from the online TM30 page so take a screenshot of the record to print later.

so if accompanied by a Thai it is a strait forward process, are there any scanned documents required when register?

When and what you need to do depends on the Immigration office you report to. Some do not require re-reporting for domestic travel, some do. Some require a new TM30 when you travel overseas, some only require you to drop in to let them update the new arrival card (TM6) number to your previous TM30 record. Suggest you check with the office that you report to.
