Because you could always get fired or have your income go down. The 500k in liquid cash means the Thai gov knows for a fact you can survive for the 180 days they are stamping you in. The soft power DTV does not allow you to even have a job at all, if the 500k isnt for living expenses then how does the soft power DTV ppl pay their bills? They are literally not allowed to work even remote jobs or online.

What would be the point of that? On the soft power DTV you are not allowed to be employed while in Thailand.

Yes it is, its not for 5 years its for 6 months as thats the stamp you are getting. You are not getting a 5 year stamp or then the number would be much higher. Technically they can ask you to prove you have 500k every time you reenter for the 180 days.

They ask for it to be seasoned to make sure you didn't just borrow the money from a friend or bank for a month. They want to make sure the cash is actually yours to spend. Its also why they want it in a bank account and liquid because its meant to be spent on living expenses.

No its meant to prove you already have the cash to support yourself especially on the soft power category as you do not have a permit to work or make income while in Thailand.

The 500k is for normal day to day expenses and I showed them millions of THB in my bank account.

The savings I showed them was many millions of THB, more than enough to cover all living expenses and an emergency fund.

I already showed them savings of millions of THB, seems weird they would ask for further documents of how I will support myself.
