I applied for the DTV on Feb 3rd and today on Feb 9th they are requesting additional documents for: "(Please upload your source of income with proof. )"
I applied through soft power muay thai classes, why are they asking for income documents? I thought you didn't need to provide these?
I'm applying in the Philippines, anyone have any tips on what documents I should upload?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user applied for a DTV visa under soft power but has been asked to provide additional documentation related to their source of income. While some commenters note that showing sufficient funds (like bank statements) should suffice, others mention that authorities often seek detailed proof of income for applicants residing in Thailand long-term, especially under the soft power category where employment is prohibited.
No its meant to prove you already have the cash to support yourself especially on the soft power category as you do not have a permit to work or make income while in Thailand.
Anonymous participant then why many embassies ask for it to be seasoned then ?? if its just to show you can take care of yourself, why is the 500K a number ? If you have a monthly high salary, why need to have 500k ?
They ask for it to be seasoned to make sure you didn't just borrow the money from a friend or bank for a month. They want to make sure the cash is actually yours to spend. Its also why they want it in a bank account and liquid because its meant to be spent on living expenses.
Yes it is, its not for 5 years its for 6 months as thats the stamp you are getting. You are not getting a 5 year stamp or then the number would be much higher. Technically they can ask you to prove you have 500k every time you reenter for the 180 days.
Anonieme deelnemer I completely agree with you they can technically ask you for having 500k when you enter the country, that is also the reason they will when you extend in the country.
But it certainly is not meant for daily expenses.
When it was meant that way, why would workcation then still need 500k?
Because you could always get fired or have your income go down. The 500k in liquid cash means the Thai gov knows for a fact you can survive for the 180 days they are stamping you in. The soft power DTV does not allow you to even have a job at all, if the 500k isnt for living expenses then how does the soft power DTV ppl pay their bills? They are literally not allowed to work even remote jobs or online.
Anonymous participant you can't work locally but the DTV explicitly permits non-Thai income and let's be realistic: Thailand doesn't believe that most applicants are going to be capable of supporting themselves for up to 5 years with 0 income while taking cooking classes or doing Muy Thai.
I suggest you send to them 12 months bank statements, showing you have more than enough funds to support yourself, over a 5 year period in Thailand. It would be advantageous also to show the interest amount earned from your bank balance, as that would be considered ‘Income’ you will need the write a covering letter addressed to the Royal Thai embassy in whichever city in the Philippines you filed your application.
They frequently ask for you to show how you will support yourself for the duration of your visa in addition to the 500k baht you show when applying which can be viewed as an emergency fund rather than living expenses. It can be any income or savings if you have sufficient
They want to know how you're going to support yourself over the next 5 years and how you've been getting income. You should show them any employment contract that you have and any salary payments on a bank statement from that job.
It is quite logical embassy wants to know how you will support yourself, and they can ask for anything they want to show you are eligible for DTV visa.
