as of last month I can confirm you now need either a WP3 OR A Work Permit to get a Non B at Hong Kong..

You can also leave the country and get another 90 day non-b as you have a work permit (not Vientiane)

This could be easier and there will be plenty of time to obtain paperwork for extension

I think that would be preferable than overstaying as that could cause unwanted issues

if they are near Hull they can get a tourist visa issued within an hour if they go to the consulate in person

In KL they issue them on the next working day after you submit, it will be still valid.

this is normal (in my experience) , you have to be out of the country so they can apply for the WP3 from the labour deaprtment,only with this document will you get the non-b visa
