It also varies from province to province, city to city and government officials in each branch--I've seen this in Chiang Mai and up in Mae Sai in Chiang Rai Province before I go into Tachilek (Take-A-Leak), Burma to do a "visa run". Be polite, try to be well-dressed and speaking Thai also helps! :-)
Best of luck with all of that, Salvador! I'm hoping to get back into Thailand in late December but for right now, it's simply day-by-day waiting to see what's going to happen next with both Covid itself AND when Thailand decides WHEN it's going to fully open up again.
Open up an account at a Thai bank but open it in YOUR name alone--if the bank will allow for this; sometimes you can have a Thai bank account as a farang, sometimes you cannot. Good luck with this!
Oh, absolutely, Jackie! Right now it's simply a matter of getting enough cash saved for the trip--AND Thailand FULLY opening up to outsiders--I'd rather fly directly into CNX or via Bangkok as opposed to getting stuck on Phuket for two weeks! :-)
You have my full backing on THAT one! I haven't been back to Thailand since I flew out of Suvarnabhumi in early February of 2018 so each day stuck in Farangland only gets worse in THAT regard!
