Did you love the place or the people? In my opinion, Russians are never the best tourists in any country. They stick to themselves, have the idea everyone speaks Russian, are loud and never smile. Of course there are exceptions to the rule.

You definitely need to do some research and get ready for a shitload of paperwork if you want to do this yourself. Still better than using an agent. I've got an income paper from the Dutch embassy instead of the 400k in the bank. Not all embassy do that though.

I didn't have a license yet and had to watch the video (Trat office).

- First day 9am, short reaction and eye test, +/- 5 hours of videos with some English subtitles. Finish around 5pm

- Second day 9am, written test failed the first, second was minimum, she said I could do it two times, practical test which is some turns a slalom, make sure to enter it from the right side (left) I failed because of it and had to come back on Monday;). Pickup your license which was around 150,- baht if I remember

Not true. Overseas license is not accepted in Thailand. You need an IDP (international driving permit) which is valid for 3 months for most insurance agencies. But we already had this conversation so you might want to try Google.
