Avoid airports and do a land crossing to Laos. Get a visa and go back by land. The risk of a denial exist and you dont want to be send back to SA.

Some people reported that some transfers showed int and some as local. As I understand it is that if they use Bkk bank to clear the funds abroad and if your account is with Bkk bank it shows as international. If your Thai account is with another bank the funds are clear with Bkk bank abroad but then transferred inside Thailand from Bkk bank to your bank which shows as a local transfer.

less paperwork = less people needed to move the papers around = less bosses = smaller big boss = less power = less money = cannot do. It is not a Thai syndrome but a worldwide civil service problem. Feel free to delete admin.

ok thanks so its written in days for the first extension and months thereafter. It gets confusing because many quote 90 days instead of 3 months for 2nd extension onwards.

Look on internet if your friend can apply for a visa in Jakarta or Manila. Malaysian, Vietnam and Laos is not issuing visas anymore to most African countries (only Laos to SA). I do not know about Cambodia.

For PR application you must pay B 200 000, for Thai citizenship its much less. The waiting time is many years.

the only problem maybe that in that remote area such a service may not available. So you can have insurrance that provide a service thats not available. I think that you should first find out if such a service is available in that area and then get a policy that cover med vac. It is of little use if a chopper must fly in from Bangkok as your med vac via your planned route maybe faster. The policy must also cover rock climbing.
