Is there a reason you don't want to use Google voice? I realize it won't for some banks, but it works for all my banks, credit cards, etc two factor authentications. I only ran into one credit card that wouldn't let me set up online banking with it. It was a new card I was applying for so I just canceled it and went with another company.

Likley you'll need to include it on your taxes, as you would any income. Even gifts. Whether or not you will have to pay taxes will depend on what you received the money for and Thailand tax laws.

that was 18 years ago. Not at all the same today, or even what it was 4 years ago when I did it. It's gotten MUCH harder and banks are less willing to open one for foreigners on anything other than a long term visa due to all the additional banking regulations every country has implemented since then.

I'm amazed at how many nonsense answers you're getting. Of course he can stay if married to a Thai by applying for a non-o based on marriage. I entered on a tourist visa four years, got married, applied for the non-o, and then 1 year extensions since then. It's very easy to do.

The hardest part is getting a bank account in his name only on a tourist visa so he can meet the 400k baht financial requirement. It was easier 4 years ago. An agent can help with that part, but not needed for the rest of it. Alternatively he can apply for the non-o in his home country and may be able to meet those financial requirements eaiser. It'll then be much easier to open the Thai bank account to meet the 1 year extension requirements.

You may want to ask this and any future questions on the Thai Visa Advice or Thai Visa Forum groups. The admins are extemely helpful and don't allow all these cynical trolls.

the simple answer is yes, if he then applies for a non-o visa for being married to a Thai.

As far as the questions, you asked them and then acted as if the OP was the one asking all of them by saying "Is he not capable of asking these questions himself". So no, that is not logical. Also, every single question you asked has absolutely no bearing on if he could stay in Thailand if married to a thai. How the hell does knowing if she has children or if a bride price was discussed impact getting a non-o based on marriage?

I believe Savannakhet was the last, but I'm not 100% sure. It could've been one of the last instead.

I believe in my home country and most others you still need to show proof of funds, just that it doesn't have to be in a Thai bank.
