But, if your unemployed and apply on what basis! Then your unemployed in Thailand and can't work in Thailand. You need to sort out employment and cash flow.

 10,000tb for a five year visa, not each year, only addition is if you extend for another and we are not full sure on that cost, said to be 10,000tb

Look up the word freelancer on the Internet, I had the same question, it's someone that self generates money by whatever means and can prove it, in the west we would call a entrepreneur or self employed person.

Attaching the London embassy take on the DTV says 5 year multi entry for £300 and 180 days per entry.

Extension it says that it can be extended once for a further 180 days, then depart Thailand.

Re-enter and repeat.

No mention of extension costs, need to check that locally in Thailand.
