A speciality of Thailand: If you use any of the professional carriers you will face customs payments as all they (carrier, agent, customs) work together in order to make the bill as expensive as possible. Only serious shipment is done by ordinary post. It takes time, but no cheat. Best would be to let it bring by any friend.

Sandflies. Those are extremely nasty, tiny insects. To prevent to get bitten, you should use insect spray onto your skin with high percentage of DEET. After you got bitten, try to put "yellow oil" on the effected part of skin, it helps.

whether you can drive has nothing to do with a driving licence. Many people here got a driving licence on whatever way and are not able to be trustable traffic partners. So if you would ask whether it is illegal to drive without international or Thai driving licence: yes it is. But who cares?

Unfortunately it is very common in SE Asia that people don‘t answer to emails. Don‘t know whether it goes to Spam folder or email-address is wrong or most possibly the address is an official one which stays unchecked as nobody feels responsible as long you don’t address to a specific person. Better to contact by phone or LINE (which is very popular here and used by almost everyone)

I always carry cash - but in local currency which I take from the first ATM on the airport. I don´t move out of the airport without local cash. Home-currency I only need for a taxi or train ticket in my home-country. So why bring in USD or € or whatever, when you have to change it anyway at your destination country? Change and change back costs money and one needs to take care of such huge amount.

If you don‘t have long stay visa and address in Thailand the bank will not allow you to open an account. For 2 month it is absolutely not necessary at all. Bring no cash with you, but at least 2 cards for ATM. In case one is lost or is make troubles, you might have a backup. Visacard is also accepted by ATM.
