Sounds dodgy to me.

I sent goods from Australia and was asked for a picture of my passport page and visa stamp in my passport. Nothing more than this.

I noticed that the Wise site didn't ask what the transfer was for. ie, send money to family overseas.

I completed the transaction again with no problem the second time.
