Not user unfriendly... they tend to follow the rules.

I didn't need one (just having credit cards was sufficient) but if you are a resident in the Philippines or Thailand it might not hurt to have one.

In today, out tomorrow unless there is something in your passport that will raise their eyebrows.

Yes and No. A guarantor is not needed for a SETV.

Just a hotel booking and flights.

Working as a paid employee for a non-profit is about the same as any other legal work for wages when it comes to getting a visa and work permit.

.

Have the HRM person from the Non-profit go to the labor office and find out what the labor office want specifically for the letter of authorization to allow the non-profit to hire you as a paid employee. Requirements will vary depending on the nature of the NGO and their sponsorship / authorization to operate.

.

Once you have the letter then it is off to get your non-B (you are a paid employee) or diplomatic visa (if it is a government sponsored NGO).

.

Once you come back you get your Work Permit and visa extension.

Fly out, fly back. no limit on 30-day no-visa entries

BUT

You may be asked to show proof of your ability to fund your stay without working and may be asked how you stay without working.

.

If you were working by doing border hops and visa runs then be aware that you may be in for a very rough time.

.

IF you meet the requirements to legally work as a teacher in Thailand (degree, TOR, TOEIC, police clearance) then getting a real job is an option.

.

If you are looking to work in the tourism sector under the AEC framework then you need to show qualifications and find an employer to hire you.

There is still a local university... even out in the provinces and away from main centers. Ask your wife.

And you will impress all of the locals when they see your photo at the end of it all:

Go to the local Rajabhat... cheaper than a language center, no issues with the visa, annual extensions rather than 90-days, and you will learn Thai.

ED visa to study at a uni = no problem for 4-6 years. BA-anything in a Thai uni. 9 credits per semester (9 classroom hours per week - 32 weeks per academic year).

BA in Thai if you legitimately want to learn the language. Most Thai unis are under 50k baht per year and the visa extensions are good for a year at a time not 90-day stretches. You just need to show your transcripts and enrollment confirmation each year.

ED visa to study at a Thai Language center... it is problematic and full of hassles due to flagrant misuse of the visa. Good for a year or maybe 2 on 90-day extensions.
