As immigration is closed today - the stamped until date, you can extend on Monday no problem and there should be no overstay penalty.

As a UK passport holder I think you mean visa exempt entry, (rather than VoA). This can be extended for 30 days at immigration for 1,900 baht.

Previously used these for my passport for submissions to district office all by email and completed returns by post.

You won't get any extension by leaving Thailand.

Aussie's will get a new 30day Visa Exempt entry OR if you go to a consulate/embassy and buy a Single Entry Tourist Visa you'll get a 60 day entry stamp. Both can be extended by 30days at immigration offices inside Thailand.

Note for visa exempt entries most countries are limited to only 2 by land border each calendar year.

If you find a school running a course approved by the ministry of education you can (with paperwork from the school) get an Ed Visa -

- language, diving, self defense to name a few.

I've never heard of schools refusing women for self defense courses (I'm sure it would have popped up in this grp).

In Chiang Mai there are schools offering an Ed visa for Muay Thai -

A very quick search just now turned up a school offering approved courses and Ed visa support.

At BKK (Suvarnabhumi) you don't need photos or copies of anything - they do it all for you but charge a 200B fee ontop of the 1000 for single / 3800 for multiple.

Like Richard says above - inside security area of departure zone 2 (before passport control)
