Thanks ...my real concern is why or how can different immigration areas interpret the laws/rules differently? Why for example is Phuket different to Chaing Mai? The rules should not be able to be interpreted differently... they should be bog standard. Everyone I talk to has a different opinion. I personally have a new 12 mths extension based on retirement, but I'm thinking of changing to extension based on marriage, but I need to know that the rules can't be changed on the whim of an IO, who might be having a bad day. I don't need to incur monthly transfer fees when I can transfer a larger amount some months which would give me the same average monthly income over 12 months. It's very frustrating. It's a shame that Mr Big Joke doesn't want to listen to some of the expats concerns. I would just like to see some standardization.
With On-Line Thai bank accounts you can transfer account to account (same bank) or bank to bank (different banks) 100,000 baht per day. (SCB / Kbank+) SCB is easier...can use WiFi...Kbank+ needs a more secure connection. This is only my own experience. Also you will need to make Wills....I think a simple handwritten/ 2 signed witnesses will suffice....(I would like clarification on that point myself...although this topic is very interesting it is not visa related)
I'm not following you....yes in Phuket they keep the passport overnight....most other places do not. Are you getting confused by being able to extend up to 45 days early? Are you mis-reading my post?
In Phuket the 12 months extension procedure takes 2 days..submit application any time up to 45 days in advance, collect passport after 1pm following day. Different immigration offices have different procedures...but you lose nothing by doing it early...in fact it is a relief!
