Why Was My TM 30 Registration Refused by Korat Immigration?

Yesterday (5th Dec) I arrived in Pak Chong from Phuket. I met my new landlord, signed a 1 yrs rental contract and gave the Landlord a signed copy of my passport and a TM 30 form. He kindly offered to go to Korat immigration today (6th) and file the TM 30 and send me a copy of the receipt. He just phoned me and said Korat Immigration refused to register me and that they need to see me & my passport. I now have to go on a 3hrs round trip on Monday. Feeling very annoyed! My Landlord lives in Korat. Seems a bit over the top and unnecessary?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience of arriving in Pak Chong and having difficulty with the TM 30 registration process through their landlord. Despite providing necessary documents, Korat Immigration refused to process the TM 30 without seeing the user in person. Many commenters empathized and provided suggestions, including filing the TM 30 online, which may have been more convenient.

(I am lucky that my lady partner has Thai army connections who visited Korat immigration on my behalf) I now have my receipt of TM 30 notification so am a happy chappy.

they make it up as they go, all they need is passport copy, TM6 or drivers license with passport number on and TM6, same as hotels and online.

They really can't file a TM30 without the persons passport and copies of visa ect.ect.

Just out of interest when I have stayed in a hotel, I have always presumed they filled out a TM30 form, or at least if they copied my passport I did. However I never got a receipt, why?

Because in 99% of all cases, a person staying in a hotel won't need to do anything with the TM30, but it is something the hotel must do by law.

If you ask for a copy of the TM30, I believe they would give you the screenshot though

Why not wait until you need your extension? Do it all in the same trip!

24hrs is the time frame for filing a TM30.

then you would get fine for failure to file a TM30 within 48 hours of taking up residence.

Strange, :/

As a rule land lords CAN file TM30's on their tenants.

Unfortunately though, at the end of the day it's YOU who need the receipt of having had a Tm30 filed. :(

So as much as it's annoyed you, if I was a fortune teller I'd say I see a trip to the Korat immigration office for you in your near future. ;)

Sorry about that.
