Yes, apparently they take Karaoke serious in the Philippines. Ho Chi Minh City has nothing to see but pretty women. Da Nang does not have the nightlife but a lot more see and do. Hoi An

Not a guy to get in a fight. In Cebu up early to scuba dive. Went by a karaoke bar still open at 6am. Heard a melody I knew but not the words…. Then I realized, it was John Denver, Take Me Home. I smiled and giggled a little. They did not like that. It end with my knife in one man’s foot and the other man ran off with my scuba bag. Every thing is filmed on the streets. Police investigated & I got my passport back. I asked for my knife back but the policeman laughed, said “ I was a funny guy”. Da Nang would be my pick. A concrete jungle that will kill person over a joint scares me the most.

We can only do certain things, you have to prove you are not replacing a Thai’s job, your skill has to specialized. Can teach, run a resort not many other opportunities unless like you said, creative. Yet, there is certain industries we cannot participate, like agriculture. Remember too you will make what you are accustomed. I am the same as you. Retired early. Bought and fixed up a resort, in the end I managed it with permission because I could help my Thai wife. So I understand you spent 10,000Baht for 6 months. Seems like a lot of Baht. Heard a 10 year DTV cost half million. OuchAs Thailand makes it ever more difficult to reside here it become easier elsewhere. It is all about the money. But it is their country. While I live here I don’t plan to die here.

It is not legal, elephant tourism, prostitution are the mafia’s domain. Think about it.

Western Company. There is no trust in Thai insurance companies. They are incredibly good at denying your claims. Hospital don’t trust either and often make you pay your bill and you have try to get reimbursed. Good luck with that, they know you are a tourist and that you will give up if they make it difficult to make claims. You have no rights here, no recourse and Thais just think you have money and because of this attitude you pay more.
