you need to sit exactly at one minute before midnight behind a computer and then space will be available as they open up slots. For example book tonight for an appointment for 12 July. Keep your passport at hand and be quick to fill in the appointment form!

Just arrived today at Savannakhet the immigration in Laos they tried to charge me as well the 100 THB extra on top of the 40 USD for the visa fee. I refused to pay and the guy got simply rude and offensive but I told him to get his corrupt ass out the way and give my pasport back right away. Didn’t need to pay the 100 THB and simply entered the country. As far what I understand the 100 THB is only for Asian nationals who enter Laos because they don’t need to pay separately for a visa.

In their system it’s probably correct so shouldn’t be a problem and otherwise indeed argue on a polite but strong way. It’s their mistake not yours.

let him fly to Laos indeed Savannakhet. Get him the one year Non-O based on marriage. For all the required documents visit the website of the Royal Thai Embassy in Savannakhet. After that he can just do the border cross with Mukdahan. This is by far the safest option if he wants to avoid getting interviewed or denied entry by immigration at BKK airport.
