Got a new workplace and they want to provide me with a work permit. If I cancel the old work permit do I have to cancel the visa as well? Can the new work permit been issued on the old Non-B? I am confused and immigration and labor department are telling different things.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When cancelling an old work permit in Thailand, it is important to know that your Non-B visa is linked to it; thus, cancelling the work permit will also automatically cancel the visa. However, there may be options to transition smoothly by adding the new workplace to the current work permit before removing the old job. It is crucial to ensure that the Labor office is processing the new work permit correctly to avoid complications.
An extension of stay needs to be cancelled once you’ve finished your existing job. It doesn’t automatically cancel. You’re going to have to liaise with immigration and labour to work out the best option for you. Talk to your new employer and see if they can help out. Perhaps as Anna said earlier it might be adding your new job to the WP first, but since you’re changing province there might be other factors involved.
Please make sure that Labor office is issuing new WP for you. One option is first add new workplace to your present wp and then remove old job after that. I have so many friends who have new workplace, but Labor office is not issuing wp
Work permit and Non-B Visa (extension of stay based on workpermit) both are linked, once your WP gets cancelled, your visa will be automatically cancelled.
