What should I do if I can't get an appointment for a Non-O visa at the Savannakhet Thai Embassy?

Dear Thai Visa community,

Today, I went to the Savannakhet Thai Embassy to apply for a Non-O visa as I have children. Unfortunately, I assumed everything was status quo and only learned about the new "No walk-ins" policy that came into effect on June 4th.

I'm now trying to create a reservation on the website they provided, but I don't see any openings for June. Is there an issue with my browser, or am I going to have to stay in Laos for a month?

I've attached a picture of what I'm seeing on the website. I would really appreciate any advice or guidance, as I would love to go back home as soon as possible. My wife and I have three small children, and being away from them is quite challenging.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello Tod. My daughter is in the same position as Jason today but she flew in to Laos. Flying back to BKK on Friday. Will she need to show an air ticket out of Thailand to avoid problems at the airport?

that is between her and the officer at passport control, it's much more an air carrier policy than a thai immigration policy, I'd say if she can board her flight back without onward travel she wouldn't be asked when she stamps in here UNLESS she's got an extensive entry/stay history to thailand on free stamps and 30 day extensions

Thanks Tod. She doesn't have that history fortunately. It's more the leaving Laos issue - probably a good idea to book something to show onward travel.

Would it be cheaper to go to Malaysia or somewhere else than wait in Laos?

Sadly (for you) appointments to Savannakhet are only available 2 weeks out AND every day is booked up within minutes of it being open

For instance this morning at 12AM I went on the link and bookings for the 24rd (two weeks out) were available for booking. However less than 5 minutes later all the spots had been booked

you got no optionz, you're not gonna get in that gate without an appt and you're not gonna get an appt for at least 2 weeks

IF you haven't used both 30 day free entry by land entries this year, come back to thailand on a 30 day free stamp entry, take the 30 day extension if you need it, and take the 60 day visit thai family extension if you need that too

AND

use that time to do a booking for Savannakhet OR Vientiane (they both issue single entry 90 day Non-O's based on thai children)

if you have an appointment booked it’s says between 09:00-11:00 do not go there before 10:30 because the waiting line is very very long.
