There is no limit to obtaining tourist visa. METV is what you should get, it can give you 270 days in thailand, you just need to do a border run every 60 days, or 90 if you extend with 30 days. Be sure to make last entry before validity date runs out, which is 180 days past the issue date
Às above, the visa validity is 90 days, so even if you enter Thailand on day 89, you still get stamped in for 60 days. If you stay in Vientiane for some time, apply for the SETV on Friday, to get back your passport on Monday, it will avoid huge queues and waiting time. Doing it on Friday ensures you will be there for about 10 minutes, both on Friday and on collection day (Monday). It is as easy is filling out a form, copy of main passport page + lao Visa, two photos. Collect on Monday paying the 1000 baht visa fee
Oh sorry, I thought the claim was in regards to THB. In fact, I once paid in USD at FSB3 because I had some left over from Cambodia, I paid with 50 USD, and gave me back 20, even though for me the visa is and has always been 35 USD :)
I have always paid for the lao visa in THB, as it costs more to obtain USD then the price difference which is only about 250 baht give or take. Inside Lao, it is always better to pay for things in LAK or THB then USD anyway. I never had a problem with them accepting crisp notes, and I must have crossed into Lao over 30 times already at various border crossings, but mainly FSB1 or FSB3.
Not really, no matter what you say, they receive a 30 day stamp on arrival without a visa and a 60 day stamp with a visa, that you MIGHT be able to extend such an entry with a further 30 days, does not suddenly change the stamp you will be getting. If one is wanting to stay for longer than 30 days, getting a TV is better, and probably cheaper as well. 1000 baht versus 1900 baht.
