Does my 60-day SETV start when I re-enter Thailand after applying in Laos?

I will be flying from Bangkok to Vientiane in a few days. If I get my SETV taken care of in the first few days and hang around Laos for two weeks is it correct to assume my 60 day SETV starts on the day I come back into Thailand? And if anyone has done this lately please let me know how it worked out for you. Any tips much appreciated. Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When you apply for a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) in Laos, the visa is valid for 3 months from the date it is issued. Your 60-day stay in Thailand officially starts when you enter the country, regardless of how much time passes between your visa issuance and your return. It's recommended to apply for the SETV on a Friday to minimize waiting time for processing.

Às above, the visa validity is 90 days, so even if you enter Thailand on day 89, you still get stamped in for 60 days. If you stay in Vientiane for some time, apply for the SETV on Friday, to get back your passport on Monday, it will avoid huge queues and waiting time. Doing it on Friday ensures you will be there for about 10 minutes, both on Friday and on collection day (Monday). It is as easy is filling out a form, copy of main passport page + lao Visa, two photos. Collect on Monday paying the 1000 baht visa fee

The visa is valid 3 months from the day it is attached in your passport. This means you have 3 months to activate the visa by entering Thailand.
