ok. You are correct. I normally take a Large amount of $$ every year or so. Still enough to pay plane ticket , even compared to WISE.

Most people don't feel comfortable carrying Large amounts of ,$$

Cash. Best rate by far if you find a great exchange agent.

The savings on 800,000 will pay for a plane ticket to go fetch it in any country..

Just make sure you declare it and carry the withdrawal paper work

to easy to do on my own. Consulate is 5 minutes away . Paper work takes 20 minutes. Been on first name basis with consulate for 25 years..

I get my wife to use her Thai id at check in. Never an issue in 29 years
