TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can change from a Non-B visa to a marriage visa (Non-O) in Thailand if you meet the necessary requirements. However, you cannot hold both types of visas simultaneously. Additionally, you might consider applying for a retirement visa if you are 62 years old.

even though it isn't the easiest to get the first time, as there is lots of paperwork involved, the marriage visa is the best. The financial requirement is only bt400,000, as opposed to a retirement visa that requires bt800,000, and at least bt400,000 must stay in your bank account the full year, or a deposit from overseas of at least bt40,000 each month for a marriage visa, as opposed to bt65,000 a month for a retirement visa. With a marriage visa you can use all your money as soon as you get your visa extension. You just have to replace it at least two months before your yearly extension comes due. After you gather all your paperwork for the marriage visa the first time, and keep copies of everything, in future years the only thing that has to be updated is your bank letters, and all your pictures. Also, a few very significant differences between the marriage visa and a retirement visa, is you can work with a marriage visa, but you can not work at all with a retirement visa. How this makes a significant difference is after working for three years, making at least bt40,000 a month and paying your Thai income taxes, and a few other requirements, you can apply for permanent residency, meaning you no longer need a visa, and no filing 90 day reports. Under a retirement visa you can never do this, never. Although the first time you get a marriage visa the documents you need are lengthy, after that each extension is very easy, as long as you keep all documents from the first time.
. Marriage visa is less money in bank (400k not 800k ), you can work on it(with permit) and if you stop working ,you don't lose your visa status as you do on a B visa.
