I was in similar situation only my baby is coming in 3 weeks. I used the amnesty period to get everything ready. Got my extension last week. Got rid of a lot of worries. Good luck!

If you really want to make sure, start planning to get a one year extension, move money to Thai bank etc...

So what about a work permit? Can one get a WP on an extension of stay based on marriage?
John **********
that's what I was wondering. But I guess it would be better to buy a re-entry permit and keep the extension valid.

@Benjamin *****
can you get a one year extension of stay after the 60 day extension, if you meet the requirements?

Interesting. I was just at Korat immigration today to look at my options for the future. The IO told me that if I went with a one year extension based on retirement/over 50, I could take the money out the next day after I got the stamp if I wanted to as long as it was back in 2 months before the next extension was due. Didn’t sound right to me. Do they actually check afterwards?

Here’s an updated list of prohibited jobs. 12 were dropped. Unfortunately for you, driving is still on the list

You don’t have to change your visa type just because you marry a Thai citizen
