Dear knowledgeable and generous members of this group

My yearly extension of stay based on retirement is about to expire soon, and while i used an affidavit from my embassy to confirm income over 65k per month, i will be using 800 000 banked this year. Now i think i have messed up this good, as I had been under the impression that the money only had to be seasoned for two months before i submit my application, and seasoning it 3 months cuts it short by leaving me only 2 days before my current extension expire :o

As such i want to make absolutely sure I have all the necessary paperwork in order and don’t get any surprises when i go to submit my application. I know i should go to Samut Prakan immigration to get a handout listing the requirements, and I will, but experience from Korat immigration tells me such lists are not always complete.

Did anyone here recently get an extension based on retirement in Samut Prakan recently, and was there any requirements that was not listed in the handout?

Also, for documenting my banked cash: besides my updated bankbook, what documents do i ask to get from Kasikorn bank, and do i need to get those papers on the same day as i submit my application?

Closed borders doesn’t really make this any less anxiety-inducing

As well as updated passbook, your bank needs to provide last 2 months statement and a letter confirming balance and status of account. Usually, immigration will accept these dated a few days before your application.

I have found them very reasonable in Samut Prakan.

GO to the immigration office in Samut Prakan, get the hand out, talk to them and SEE what you need exactly. There's no down side to doing that. AND I can say that the immigration office in Samut Prakan is NOT as hard core as the one up in Nakhon Ratchasima is.

Keep in mind there are more than 70 immigration offices in the country and each of them tweaks the hand out how they want to. GO and get the current one from the office you're going to be using

Interesting. I was just at Korat immigration today to look at my options for the future. The IO told me that if I went with a one year extension based on retirement/over 50, I could take the money out the next day after I got the stamp if I wanted to as long as it was back in 2 months before the next extension was due. Didn’t sound right to me. Do they actually check afterwards?

The rule is the 800K baht needs to be in an account in your name for 2 months before you apply for your yearly extension, it needs to stay in that account for 3 months after you get your extension and then the balance can't go below 400K baht the rest of the year

As this is my second extension (though the first using banked money) I though 3 months prior seasoning was the rule. Will check with an IO and report back. Hopefully I got it wrong after all 🙂
