Thought extension of stay based on marriage was 12 months. My son does this every year.

You won't be renewing a visa but getting 12 months extension of stay based on retirement.

Get the 1 year extension, based on retirement. 1900 tbt I believe. Just check what your immigration office requires.

you won't get a visa unless you apply for one. But maybe your passport allows exempt entry: 60 days no visa.
