UPDATE: Khon Kaen don't do the 60 days extension for visiting Thai wife anymore either. It's been discontinued.
Question: 4-5 months ago they stopped offering 60 days extension based on marriage in Udon Thani (new policy). So can only do 60+30 instead of 60+30+60. I was able to do 30+30+60 in Khon Kaen prior to that for years (when 30 days visa exempt was a thing). I still have an address I can use for Khon Kaen so I would like to try to do the 60 days extension there. But I'm 2 hours away so would like to confirm first that it's indeed possible.
Did anyone here did it recently after the initial 60 days visa exempt + 30 days extension? Please only answer if you actually know the answer from having done it. I'm not talking about 90 days + 60 days, but what use to be 30+30+60, now 60+30+60, which was possible in Udon Thani for a few months after the change to 60 days visa exempt, but not anymore. So I don't know if it made the round in Isan or if it's only in Udon Thani that the policy changed.
Thank! :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the current status of obtaining a 60-day visa extension for visiting a Thai wife in Khon Kaen. There have been recent changes in policy, discontinuing the extension in Khon Kaen and Udon Thani, as only a 60+30 extension is now possible instead of the previous 60+30+60. They seek confirmation from recent experiences in Khon Kaen before making the trip.
Neither are marriage extension, but they are known as such in the popular jargon, that's my point. Because to get the 60 days extension, you need to be married or have a child, which is the same for the 12 months. You can't get the 60 days extension without a marriage certificate or proof that you are the dad. So both are basically marriage extension because without being married you won't qualified for the 60 days extension. You are right in terminology, ofc.
the 12-months Extension of stay based on being married to a Thai can be called a "marriage extension", I have absolutely no problem with this. However the 60-days extensions I have always called "based on family visit" . . just because it is a "small" extension and I wish to draw a distinction between it and the "large" extension - the same distinction Immigration is doing on their website
I always called both marriage extension for practicality (you need to be married to get the 60 days...). In theory, yes, one is more of a marriage extension then the other, but the 12 months extension isn't officially called a marriage extension either.
"but the 12 months extension isn't officially called a marriage extension either." . . . .you are right. The correct wording Immigration will use is: "Extension of temporary stay permit based on being married to a Thai wife" 😉
oh really? 🙂 Pray tell why it does it say "extension of stay permit" and the "reason" it was issued on is "Thai wife" (the handwritten note I encircled?). Again, I don't want to nitpick 😎
I feel the need to interfere, again, regarding the "jargon" remark . . . . Immigration is actually NOT calling both of these extension types "marriage extension". . . They are making a distinction between the 12-months extension for BEING married to a Thai family, and the 60 days extension for VISITING a Thai family . . . the following is for BEING married

Thought extension of stay based on marriage was 12 months. My son does this every year.
Neither the 12 months your son did is a marriage extension either. But yet, you are still using such terminology but the difference is that you think it was the right one. Most people are like you and think that the 12 months is a marriage extension visa, it's not. I use terms that are practical because most people are not aware of the real terminologiy.
You said: "extension of stay based on marriage". In that sentence are the words "extension" and "marriage". You said it in a different word order, come on.
Useless to call their office. I get conflicting info every time I have ever called immigration office. I'll have to drive 2h to see if possible unless someone did it recently know for sure that it's not possible. In KK Expats group someone did it in October. I got denied in December in Udon.
Yes, my wording was wrong. Most people know the 60 days extension, and the yearly extension, as "marriage extension". So I usually use that terminology. Both are for the reason you said which imply that it's basically an extension because you are married and want to see your wife.
it is called "60 days extension based on family visit" It is not based on marriage, Maxim got that wrong, although you need to proof your marrige with a freshly on the Amphur printed Kor Ror 2 or 22 (whichever it is)or with a proof of fathership of a half Thai child
Both 60 days and yearly extension are technically not "marriage extension", as both are for "visiting Thai spouse". But it's an easier jargon to call both "marriage extension".
The 12 month Non-O Extension of Stay is based on marriage as that is what the Non-O was originally issued for and the reason you put on the TM7 to apply. There is no "Visiting Thai Spouse" extension but there is a "Visiting Thai Family" extension.
Yes, but it's not called a "marriage extension", but everyone call it as such. I use easy wording because Visiting Thai Family, etc, just end up confusing people.
actually, and you should know this already, it's called a type O extension based on Thai wife. Not using the correct terminology confuses people. The same with Visiting Thai family. That's what it is called. To use anything else confuses people.
No, the 12 months is not a marriage extension. We know it as such, but the official term is not marriage extension. But in reality, yes, it's the same.
Also, an admin and Visa expert can't answer my question. I'm a visa expert and I can't. Only someone who went to Khon Kaen recently to do 60 days extension can answer that question. It's office dependent, each office set their own rules which can change every few months.
As I said in my post. I'm well aware of what I'm asking, that's why I said in my post to only comment if you know the subject. i don't need help understanding what I need, I've been here 12 years and doing plenty of such extensions already. I asked if the services I want is available in Khon Kaen, since it was discontinued in Udon Thani 4-5 months ago.
