not in my experience. I always show airfares for 90 day trip and write 60 + 30 in intended length of stay. Thai Embassy Canberra. Never been a problem.

the over 50 and the 800,000 bht is no problem, so I still need police check, medical certificate and health insurance when I apply for 90 day visa in Australia then apply for the extension in Thailand? Any idea of the fees from immigration in Thailand for this extension? It's $300 in Australia.

but isn't non-imm- O visa only if you have a Thai wife or kids? I just want a 90 day visa. It looks like my best option is 60 day Tourist visa then a 30 day extension. The visa O or special Tourist visa 90 day both requires health insurance and covid insurance up to $
